So if you're a line worker and the boss says, "hey, manage people for as long as I need you to" and there's a pay difference, you'd salute and say, "how high, boss?" With no pay adjustment? The hell you would.

The contract he signed was the highest for a Guard. Tackle is a pay grade up from that. If they think he's tops at playing Guard, they'll have no problem believing in him as a Tackle. Belief = more cash (unless you're a lickspit doormat). Business, not personal. Leave the emotions at the door.

you sign a contract then you fulfill that contract. People that whine it's not my job are the type of employees I would never hire. It's your job as long as you're getting paid. These guys are mostly overpaid clowns.

He led all of college football in holding penalties the year he was drafted......

We don't need that as a pro.....

that's what I figured. You can not want to do something but still man up and do it because it's your job. I'm reasonably sure the contracts don't stipulate a position.

He also held out of training camp after he started to decline.

He got a bunch of cash and retired two years later with two years left.

This season he still counted $8m against the cap as dead money and next year he will count $16.5m

But everyone was crying “pay the man!”

Parsons was far more than just his stats.

His presence allowed his teammates to make more plays.

Do you think it was just a coincidence that the Cowboys were a leader in the NFL in takeaways while he was here?

Do you really think that Bland and Diggs were legitimate 1st team All-Pros? Do you think they lead the NFL in INTs without QBs running for their lives because Parsons was hunting them down?

How many Cowboys and ex-Cowboy players owed their new contracts to Parsons?

Do you think it was a coincidence that the Packers haven't won since he went down?

Jerry Jones violated CBA rules when he tried to do an end-around on Parson's agent. He attempted some slick stunt and he is well known for those.

That handshake from Jerry Jones was deceptive as hail. Parsons probably didn't even realize that Jerry was trying to formalize the deal. That isn't how things are done in the NFL and Jerry darned sure knew that.

I get that trading Parsons might have been a necessity as far as the salary cap goes but Jerry had to screw around, as usual and he botched the whole thing.

Trading Parsons a week before the start of the season undermined the confidence and moral of the team. No matter how professional these players attempt to be, that trade certainly had a negative impact. The entire contract negotiations was mishandled.

The trade should have happened earlier if it was going to happen. It should have happened before the 2025 draft so the Cowboys could have benefited more this season.

As far as Parson's value........just look at the before/after for both the Cowboys and Packers.

if the zone had been around at that time, there would have been a large chorus of you don't move a pro bowl, RG, I mean pro bowl LG to T!!

You're talking like his skills at guard and tackle are equivalent. They aren't. His contract pays him as an elite guard, which is higher than most OT contracts. I think I read his contract would be top 5-10 for a tackle. Could be wrong, but it sounds reasonable. If the argument is that he should be paid as a tackle, his skill as a tackle need to be taken into account. Why would we pay him top LT money if he isn't a top LT? If anything, he's getting paid more than his worth at the position, but the team needs a LT. They can't afford to go offense early in the draft and the current options aren't so great. Smith doesn't take the position going forward. He fills a critical hole while the team finds a suitable replacement. Seems like a reasonable request for a well compensated player.
 
This is an example of being proactive. Meaning, we got a player getting terrible advice probably from a greedy agent. It's a power play. The player and agent think they can leverage Jerry. Already looking to get paid even though he just signed his second contract. If I'm the Jones boys, I'm being proactive and trading his butt. This won't go away. Once a player thinks they are above the team, it's hard to put the tooth paste back in the tube. He's pretty much saying if they want him to play LT, he wants more money. Will he refuse to shift to Lt? Can't win in this league if you have a voice in the lockerroom that divides the team. Love Smith, but we can see where this is headed. Trade him NOW and get a player and more draft capital so we can build the defense. Another idea I have is, bring in Moose Johnston now, as a consultant behind the scenes. I want him in our draft room, in meetings, with our scouts, in will Mcclays office. I'm not saying permanently, I'm saying, for one off-season we need a major shift in how we build a roster. He can help put us on the right path. He's got experience.

But remember, he was originally drafted to replace Tyron Smith. He got put at G bc he wasn't that good at OT. Now he wants some kind of bonus pay or commitment from the team to only use him in one spot?
