It's one thing to believe another QB is better than Dak, but it's insane to think any QB would have taken the Cowboys roster with these OTs and the defense to the playoffs, much less to any success in the playoffs. Yup, the Chiefs are the best franchise since the Brady Patriots and have far more success in those 6 years than we do in the past 35.

Just look at the overpaid top QBs not in the playoffs. Mahomes, Burrows, Goff, and even Prescott. Paying any player 50 mill pretty much dictates your super bowl chances to zero. Chiefs are finding that out as Mahomes's cap hits climb, along w/ Kelce and Chris Jones. And Mahomes cap hits next two years are 78 mil and 74 mil. Yes, they'll push it down the road again, but at some point you have to pay the piper.

I would imagine that some team will eventually figure out that they have to have a bloated salary season, where they plan on losing and dump salaries. Paying QBs 1/5th of the cap just isn't sustainable, doesn't match up w/ super bowl contention.

Cincy is also one Joe burrow restructure away from leading the league in open cap space. While I agree it’s tough to tie up a ton of money into offensive skill players the bengals are a bad example because they have an owner that makes Jerry look good.

There is no doubt that if I were Dak, I would've held out for a huge payday to stay w/ this mess of a franchise. I don't blame him at all, but I dang sure don't have to like it!!!!

I don't know how this system can go on w/ overpaid QBs. The NFL thrives on names, but the name QBs aren't succeeding due to the burden their salary places on the cap. Only highly paid QB left this season is Stafford, and he took a lesser deal(42 mil per) to stay in LA. Darnold is making around 33 mil/per.

Mahomes was still winning in the early days of the contract when the cap hits weren't so stifling. Those days appear to be gone, as Kelce and Chris Jones get old and less effective. Basically, the Chiefs got by w/o a #1 WR because Kelce was just that.

They now need to replace Jones and Kelce.
