Signed by Cowboys Cowboys hire Eagles secondary coach Christian Parker as DC

And I don't believe this was the first time Jerry pulled that idiotic move.

Jason Garrett at OC for Wade popped in my head.
He was originally hired for an "unspecified role"

The variable that waits to be seen in Jerry Jones.

The way I see it, it's good move for Parker (and us for that matter IMO), but what happens after a couple of years of the "Jerry Jones experience" on Parkers end?

From what I've seen of Parker, he was at the Broncos and Birds. Completely different than the way things work with Jerry IMO.

No NFL ownership group would allow a 34 year old first time DC to dictate personnel decisions. And if one ever did it would not be Jerry Jones. Schottenheimer doesn’t get to dictate who the team should draft or sign.

I get that, but Parker does have a good track record, and it'd be a good idea to at least bring in a couple of players from previous stops like Denver and Philly because they probably know what type of defence he wants to run. Plus, they would be players that are good players and can enhance the talent on the team. And I think Schotty should be allowed to ask for FAs too.

I hope when Parking is hired he gets to pick his own staff. I have a feeling we will just change the DC and Parker will have to work with the current staff. Not sure I would like that. I don't think any of the defensive position coaches deserve to stay either. They should have been gone with Eberflus. Nobody on defense got better due to coaching.

I was shocked when I heard the news. I didn't see this happening. I will admit that I didn't really think they'd go for this guy. Other than the news that they really liked his interview, I just thought this was a name on a list guy.
I thought for sure they were waiting to interview Leonard. Maybe they found out he wanted to go to NY w/Harbaugh. Maybe they just didn't want to wait and find out, too late to get anyone else they wanted.

I am glad they didn't go for a re-tread HC like Gannon. To me, having an ex-HC around a new, first time HC, isn't always a great idea. Plus I thought Gannon would suck too so there's that.

But when I think about it, he is exactly what I was asking for. A young, no (big) name up and coming coach who is a leader of men, a good teacher, one who demands accountability and toughness. He comes from a good lineage for a defensive coach so I am excited to see what he can do with this group.

See below, fixed it for you!

"To me, having an ex-HC around a new, first time HC who has been a coach for over 20 years because of his dad's last name isn't always a great idea".

Reality is the new defensive coach could be a better head coach than we already have with as much experience being a head coach:laugh:

Well I mean you see the Falcons and Ulbrich. Another mismanaged team just like us smh.
I see those as two different situations.

The Falcons retained someone already on the staff. I would assume the new head coach appreciated his work and agreed with the decision.

Dallas twice went out and signed someone externally before their head coach.

I mean I kind of get it but before they even found their coach they were denying letting him interview. Essentially forcing him on whoever they hire. I’m not a fan of it but they had 52 sacks it probably for the best.

wow they are doing some talking !!
they could talk thru sunday and if denver loses intv leonhard.

I know nobody is thinking about it but this is the Cowboys and what if he flops? lol
