Darnold > Prescott

Stevie Wonder can see this. The same people who admit Dak is overpaid also claim Dak doesn't have enough support. Darnold got #1WRs and took his teams to 14 win seasons and a SB. Dak...CHOKES.

Jim Kelly had HOF coach, receiver and running back and still couldn't win a Superbowl in 4 tries.

Trent Dilfer had NO great receivers, a good runningback and won a Superbowl on his first try.

Josh Allen is supposed to be elite and can't even get to the Superbowl. Colin Kaepernick was non elite and led his team to the Superbowl. Crazy huh.....

Give me Trent Dilfer over Dak. Yeah, Dak has cuter stats but Dilfer won the entire thing!!

And according to what quarterback success is defined as here, I totally agree.

Give me Trent Dilfer over Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Joe Burrows. Trent knows how to win a Superbowl, Dak, Jackson, Burrows and Allen haven't proven that they can do what Dilfer did yet.

Great post!! I think its laughable and quite ignorant how many here are trying to put Dak down by Darnold going to the Superbowl as if they both were in the same team wide situation.

Dak is the first top 4 production in a season quarterback in history I've heard blamed for failing to miss the playoffs playing on a team with the last ranked defense. Intelligent people know that if we had not even a great defense, but just a good one, we'd make a playoff run.

With that said, im actually proud of Darnold. The man has been through alot career wise and he definitely deserves to be in the Superbowl this year. This is his twelfth season and this goes to show that just because you are great in the earlier part of your career, you can still overcome in the right situation.
Holy crap...Darnold has been in the league that long? Just checked....it is only his 8th year. His first 6 years compared to the last two are remarkable...and he did it in two different systems. Definitely fought through adversity. And I definitely feel like they could blow the Patriots out.

Yeah that was my mistake on his years. I mixed them up with someone else's numbers.

Seattle built a TEAM and not around a player

Wait... you mean to tell me this is still a team game? So building a TEAM is still important? I thought football turned into golf or boxing for a minute there.

The Stans just cant help themselves and are constantly defending delusion . Last Year this team had GENO and stunk . Give Darnold his just due . If Dak played for Seattle , they would have been done weeks ago .

I am truly happy for Darnold... always happy to see guys fight through adversity and come out the other side. Also really happy for D-Law. Cowboys fans never appreciated him for the good player that he was because he didn't put up 15 sacks every year. D-Law's presence gives me a reason to root for the Seahawks.. aside from the fact that I hate the Patriots..

I don't need to vent, but I am on a ...mission...to remove all soft landings for Dak. Anyone offering aid and comfort might catch some shots that are not meant for them lol...

By why you standing so close to the Stans if you're not with them?

You see all of Darnold's flaws, you also think Dak is overpaid...??? Bruh, you are minimizing what Darnold has accomplished in 2 STRAIGHT YEARS in order to pump Dak up. Period.

No venting here...
you sound like on a mission to just dump on dak, he is your crusade. that's a little misguided as I don't think he is what ails the cowboys alone...you put mahomes in dallas and we still don't win a championship. but don't go saying that I am comparing dak to mahomes, because that's not the point. there are a lot of issues with cowboys franchise and Dak is one of them.

and please stop with this nonesense of stans and what not. makes you sound childish and stupid.

and I didn't point to Darnold's flaws. I pointed to a few facts. the two defenses he had averaged less than 20 points a game and all I said, that it helped. if Darnold was so good, then he would stick. the fact that he can't stick anywhere tells me something. but right place, right time and he is in the superbowl. seattle is tops in scoring defense. New England is 4th. Denver, the other top defense was in CCG and almost won it with a journeyman QB. vikings were top 5 scoring defense last year. that helps.

KC made it to the superbowl last year scoring 30 points once during the season...and that's with Mahomes. KC defense was top 4 scoring.

no venting. just stating facts. defense wins. QB alone is not the sole solution to being a winning franchise. Darnold is a great example of that.

This is the thing that boggles my mind! Dak always wanted to be the highest paid QB. Period. Dak's agent walked away from negotiations because Dak started off hot his contract year. He did it again to get a shorter turnaround on the deal. The only leverage Jerry really had was to LET DAK WALK.

But if Jerry let Dak walk, yall would blame him for that too!

I get that Jerry is a horrible GM...gotcha. But what kind of COMPETITOR IS DAK for valuing money over championships? "The brotherhood" my !#@$#@
his agent did his job for getting as much as he can for his client. and who put Dak in that position? the idiot Jerry for not having a back up plan. he went into 2024 off season, with no QB on the roster for the year. that gave Dak all the leverage. the moron did it before when he franchised him. you figure he learned his lesson and second time around he would have a back up plan. but he didn't. he could have signed him for less earlier in the season, but the fearless leader said "he likes the drama". his words not mine. so he signs the QB literally an hour before the first game of the season.

and this last contract, I advocated for Jerry and Dak to walk away from each other and its good for both. Dak is not going to win in dallas. not because he sucks, but because nobody can win in dallas. nobody has.

and how did getting a 60 M contract stop us from getting a championship? cap issues? we had 65M on the cap this year? after all the trades, and signings we still have 25M. same last year, the year before that and the year before that. how is it that Philly, Rams, Detroit all sign all these players to big contracts and continue to be competitive, but one contract brings cowboys entire cap space to a halt. you think if Dak was paid 55M or 52M then that would solve the cowboys problems. do you think this team is 5-8M away from signing anyone and being a championship contender?

seriously...

you have a personal vendetta and that's your crusade. if Dak was gone tomorrow. is this franchise really know how to become a championship team? is Dak the only problem dallas has.

get real my friend. 30 years and counting. imagine we could have had Vrabel or Johnson as head coaches, instead we settle for the likes of Garrett and Schotty.

First of all what are you talking about? I never brought up Dak, Geno, or Darnold.

With that said, I did give Darnold his just due in a few recent posts.

And what is a "The Stans"?

Lets be real I dislike Jerry and not happy with our team, but to say anyone thought much of Darold would be hilarious. Everyone was screaming he was a bust so many times and is a clip board guy.

Anyone with an understanding of the game would not solely judge Sam Darnold's career based on his time at the Jets - arguably the worst team for a quarterback over the past 10 years. Or the Panthers for that matter as they were a poor excuse of a team during his tenure with them.

I commented on this forum that Darnold looked good when playing bits and pieces as the back up for the 49ers. Did I think he would be playing in a Superbowl within a few years, no. But to see him play for a team and an offense that wasn't truly awful gave more of an opportunity to properly assess him. The Vikings were suitably impressed to either have him as their backup or I think they would have initially started him ahead of their rookie QB McCarthy and see how the season panned out before potentially putting him in - he got injured before the season started and Darnold was in. He got a break.

The season before Darnold joined the Vikings they went 7-10. They went 14-3 with him and now 9-8 without him.

Darnold joined Seattle this season. The last two seasons they went 10-7 and 9-8. This season 14-3, #1 seed and playing in the Superbowl.

Yes, it's a team game with individuals who influence the outcome of those teams.

The facts are that with two teams which weren't awful, their winning % has been significantly better with Sam Darnold as their quarterback.

He has made a difference and maybe part of that reason is because he isn't being paid $231 million guaranteed over 4 years.

Conversely in the 2022 playoff game between the Cowboys and 49ers Dak was sacked once (o line was good enough) whilst Mr Irrelevant was sacked twice. Both running games were essentially shut down yet it was Mr Irrelevant who was able to make more plays with Dak and the Cowboys offense unable to put up the 20 points for the W.

I don't have the exact % but I compiled the stats on here between the vast majority of the supposed top 15 quarterbacks in the league over the last 10 years and the winning % of those teams with and without their starting quarterbacks. I think Dak made the least difference. He was around 10% from memory whilst the other teams all had a far higher winning % with their #1 QB.

It's a team game but you need individuals to step up and help the team win. Which player touches the ball more than any other during a game?

Dak Prescott is not a game changer or difference maker.

It always makes me laugh when people bring up Trent Dilfer. That was over 20 years ago. The rules were different. Defenses could really hit quarterbacks and lay some wood on them. You can't do that any longer. Of course defense matters but these days a quarterback will inevitably have to have at least one big game in the play offs to win a Superbowl. The only generational defense that carried a team to a Superbowl in the last 20 years was the Broncos. So we need to only judge Dak when he has a generational defense to carry him and his $231 million guaranteed over 4 years?

He has had teams that were good enough to reach the Superbowl in previous years and he has failed. If you put Tom Brady on those Jets and Panthers teams Darnold played on they still aren't doing anything. If you put Brady on that Cowboys team in 2022 they are playing in the Superbowl. It's a team game but individuals make a difference.

I could not disagree with you. As a matter of fact, Darnold proved that not only is he way better than Dak, but he's WAY better than Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, and Trevor Lawrence.

Hell, Trent Dilfer and Colin Kaepernick are WAY better than the quarterbacks in mentioned in the last sentence
We have different ways of evaluating a QB.
Trent and Colin were carried by teams.
Allen and Lamar carry their teams. Trevor is getting better and good he just got beat by another good QB. But that was a competitive game unlike if Dak were playing it would be a bad loss blame would go on the defense.
Justin falls into choker category like Dak. Can’t compete on the big stage. They have great players on offense to help them and are surrounded by first round talent and still struggle.
We watch Darnold and Stafford turn the playoff game into a shootout against pretty good defenses. That’s because they have pedigree. You put Dak on the Seahawks and the game is a blowout loss to the Rams. They would struggle to put up 20 points. Dak cannot make some of those difficult throws and doesn’t move like Darnold ESPECIALLY when pressured like Darnold or Stafford.
