I laid out the previous stats of what the Vikings were like before and after Darnold played quarterback and what the Seahawks were like beforehand. Again, more evidence to strongly suggest that Darnold is a very good starting quarterback in the NFL who was able to win a shootout against the MVP in an NFC Championship game.

Darnold was drafted 3rd overall in the 1st round, so he's supposed to be better than Dak who was drafted the 4th round. That wasn't the case the last couple of years but yes, I'd say he's better than Dak this year.

Pointing to the teams he played for is an excuse.

Quarterbacks drafted that high are expected to win big.

Like everyone says around here, "good quarterbacks are supposed to elevate the players around him". Why didn't Darnold elevate the Jets, Panthers, 49ers and Vikings the way he elevated the Seahawks?

Darnold is playing great football now and sometimes it takes a quarterback many seasons to get there. Some quarterbacks have great careers and some don't some quarterbacks are very good, some can be elite and never win a Superbowl.

Some quarterbacks can be just good and win a Superbowl.

The man is a choker. You keep dreaming up scenarios that are "Choke-proof": "Bub.b..b.b.ub...what if we gave Dak an all-time defense?" HE WOULD STILL CHOKE...you simply don't get that the man's nerves are SHOT.

Dak scored 12 points vs SF in a playoff game with CeeDee Lamb, Gallup and Cooper at WR.

Dak Prescott had a passer rating of 63.6 with 206 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions versus the 49ers in the 2022 playoffs

Seattle gave up nearly 30 pts to the Rams in the NFC. CG

You take Darnold away from that game, and replace him with Dak, EVERYTHING else being equal, and Seattle is down 14 going into the final 7 minutes of the game, with 2 or 3 INTs already thrown by Dak.

Seattle loses... but Dak uses last 7 min to dink and dunk down the field to secure a 7 point loss, but 80 more yards of garbage stats and a meaningless TD as time expires, and then Jerry/Dak fans everywhere yelling "WE WOULD BEATEN THE RAMS IF THE DEFENSE DIDNT GIVE UP 30 PTS!!!!!!!"
 
Dak's & the Cowboys post season:

2016: Down 28-13 entering the 4th. Down 3 scores or 2TDS and a 2-point conversion. Besides the 40 or 50yard Dez TD in the first half the offense was doing nothing up until the 4th. valiant attempt to come back in the 4th quarter but to little to late
2018 WC: The "team" had a solid win all around. Elliot ran all over the Seahawks and Dak played pretty good in a tough fought game.
2018 division round: Defense got ran over literally. Two 100 yard rushers. Goff was absolutely useless that game. However the offense is not off the hook either as they got nothing going all game nor swung momentum in their favor. Zeke with like 2ypc.
2021: Dak and the offense was completely useless all game. Defense did its job only giving up 23 points being on the field constantly. ToP was absolutely brutally lopsided. Probably Daks worst playoff game
2022 WC: Dak and the cowboys absolutely wrecked the Bucs however the Bucs team had no rights being in the playoffs to begin with. Half the starting OL out and the Bucs defense and secondary had basically people off the street playing. But damn we played solid overall.
2022 division round: Hard fought defensive game on both sides of the ball. Our defense held the niners to 19 points while the offense was completely useless again. Could also be considered Daks worst playoff game
2023: Just like the packers game in 2016. Offense was completely useless 3 out of 4 quarters and only got going in the 4th when the packers started pulling starters.

I do not believe in the "QB wins or losses" statistical bs as its a team game however the best game Dak and the cowboys have played overall was in 2018 with a solid team win over the seahawks. 2016 & 2023 offense did nothing until the 4th quarter. 2018 Rams just ran over us. 2022 & 2023 niner games the offense was once again useless all game.

2024 defensive EPA...ranked #3 [Minnesota]...5th ppg [19.5]...QBR = 55.7


It's a helluva lot easier to make it to a title game with two top three defenses than it is with one ranked dead last in the league...giving up 30.1 ppg.

Prescott had a better season than Darnold when it comes to QBR...both passing and rushing EPA.

If you are judging him by the 2022 playoffs then it's fair...but he's better now than he was then. Given how he played in 2023 and 2025 I'm willing to give him one more top three defense...then I'm off the ship.

You keep using Dak's best years in a vacuum. Dak had help the best WR combo in football and he takes up 80% more of the cap than Darnold (or some ridiculous percentage). In addition, Dak has had sustained investment from the same franchise for a decade and Darnold has had to come in learn a new system, team, coach, etc.

Every QB wants a top defense, but when our D limited SF to low scores in playoff games, Dak gave our D a no-win situation by throwing INTs. So...there's no guarantee that Dak even manages the game when he DOES have a top defensive performance.

You're absolutely right. The COWBOYS OFFENSE scored 12 points vs the 49ers. I have no problem with what you said.

Now with that said, in that same game, we had 14, 15 penalties playing against a 49ers defense that was ranked number one.

We know Dak isn't elite. But can you name me ANY quarterback elite OR non-elite who was able to overcome that many team penalties vs a number one ranked defense in a playoff game.

Now if it hasn't been done before by even ELITE quarterbacks.... explain to me why you expect an NON elite quarterback to do something that has never been done before.

I'll respectfully wait.....

I admire Darnold for the strides he made as a quarterback this season, no doubt.

But Darnold was the 3rd overall pick in the NFL draft. He's on his 5th team. Why didn't Darnold elevate the Jets, Panthers, 49ers, and Vikings the way he elevated the Seahawks?

What was it about the Seahawks that was different than all those other teams he played for??????

Darnold get better.

Didn't start out what he hoped for, but kept improving... and played clutch in the biggest game of his life.

Dak's career has been the opposite, and his first clutch playoff game where he slays a superbowl contender will be his first.

Darnold used to be worse that Kirk Prescott. But then Darnild caught up to Dak Cousins. And then left him in the dust, en route to a SB.... beating a Hall of Fame QB in a game where his defense surrendered nearly 30 points

Great post.

Darnold definitely delivered on offense and had a great number one ranked Seattle defense to compliment him.

With that said, do you believe Darnold would have led this Cowboys team with the NFLs worst defense to the Superbowl this year?
