Pickens' agents want to start contract talks at the combine

:hammer:So easily gaslit and triggered by stories and now we have nine open George Pickens threads, isn't that nice,

I think the media, the content creators, and a lot of fans, they live for this stuff, they act like they hate the drama, but they want the drama, they need the drama, they need Jerry on that wall...LOL

There are people above that say they only do contract negotiations a week before the season starts and yet so many are done long before, that Yes there has been a few that have gotten to that point but 75 percent of all contracts are done very early, on a normal schedule, it's just some of the ones that have agents and players up for really huge contracts that are playing hardball of course they're going to drag out both sides were at fault last year with the Parsons issues..

Not sticking up for Jerry but I'm betting and this is a wild guess he's been involved in at least 1000 contact negotiations since 1989, he's probably spoken to almost all the agents personally, maybe 99%, and yet they can find what 6-7 since 1989 that they say is normal, that this stuff happens ,when it's not normal, it is actually the anomaly.

In fact,

the Parsons deal, is the only drafted superstar that the Cowboys didn't retain, and that went to the levels that it did, the only one,

a lot of players hold out in all major professional sports and especially the NFL, we see the threats all the time, the posturing, There are some that that's what it takes to get a deal done, it's not all on Jerry...
Right,

i'm not even sticking up for Jerry..

it's just a fact there are so many fake Dallas Cowboy websites on Facebook, Twitter, and everywhere else on the Internet, and now the AI got involved, It's even worse,

I mean there's hardly any actual real ones.

How some of the real news from content creators on Twitter or Facebook that have been at least real have turned over a lot of their content to make sure it stays fresh every day to AI, and the stuff that gets posted is insane.

Anything to drive clicks but I'm betting the cowboys are one of the biggest names in content creation for clickbait even for non sports channels they're always looking for that hot sports opinion that spread around even if it's rumor and fake.

I mean, it's crazy, I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees it, there's so many fake trolling channels all over the Internet, some of them are honest about it ,No it's a troll post ,when people are reading some of them don't realize they're reading fake news, rumor mills.
And here you said it twice. almost back to back... Are you sure you're not sticking up for Jerry?

Who is my boy?
Your boy is Jerry. But that's beside the point. My point is everyone tries to use Parsons' Green Bay figure to say it was better to ship him when we could have signed him for less and he'd have been even more attractive to ship later and net more than we got. So to bring up $47M ignores we could have had him for $34M if we had a real GM.

No drama is all I ask for.
Survey says?!?

Not a fan of Jerry. How many times do I need t tell you that?
It depends on how much you want to believe if Jerry actually aid that. I have no idea, so will not dispute it.
I am sure you or someone can provide a link to. back it up.
But I do not really care. It is in the past. I look only forward to what is needed to improve the team.

has nothing to do with you, not sure why you always have to stick your nose in things that don't pertain to you!!!
Everything posted publicly on the Internet is fair game for me to respond to if I choose.

You might want to take a moment to reflect on what you just said. This space is completely open for all members to read and reply.

Sorry if it’s unpopular that you’re being called out for posting things that are essentially rumors or nonsense not coming from official sources.

If it’s not from the star, it’s not real. This is pure gaslighting—fake news created to stir things up and trigger people, and it’s working. This isn’t new; we already knew he’d been suspended a couple of times, but it’s being brought up now to provoke reactions. This isn’t from them—it’s something someone online decided to post, and now it’s being spun like it came from them. When the front office makes a statement, let me know—actually, I won’t need to be told, because I have multiple apps with push notifications for stories I care about. By the time I come here, I already know. The Internet is real-time. That’s the reality, and nothing has changed just because you’re coming at me hard.

Do you know where you can talk and not have anybody that you don't want to responding called private messaging direct messaging texting talking on the phone but here and anywhere else on the Internet that's open...yup you guessed it. :muttley:

Not a fan of Jerry, and I’ve said that plenty of times. Whether he actually said what’s claimed depends on what you believe—I don’t know, so I won’t dispute it. Someone can probably provide a link to back it up, but I honestly don’t care; it’s in the past, and I’m focused on what’s needed to improve the team. That said, the idea that Parsons and his agent would have taken less is nonsense. Where’s the proof they didn’t bring a lower number? And why would timing matter if it was just an informal discussion in February last year? Parsons publicly said he didn’t need over $40 million or to be the highest-paid non-quarterback, but then the price went up, and things turned into a circus on both sides. He was never signing for $34 million—he never once said he’d take less if asked earlier. People act like they know every behind-the-scenes detail, but they don’t. What we do know is Parsons said things publicly and then walked them back, Jerry took offense, and while negotiations could have found middle ground, egos got in the way. When Jerry finally tried to talk to the agent, the agent basically shut it down, saying the offer wasn’t close. However it was said, we’ll never know exactly, but there was clearly a big ego clash between them.

Where's the proof? anybody that was in his tier coming up her contract like Myles Garret took 34 million, who signed early for that kind of money, I'm trying to figure it out. You know if somebody would have signed early for that kind of price that would have set the market lower would it not have then we could have got Parsons for lower money but where are those guys that I'm looking for a base that we could say well there you go you could have got him for less?

I mean, the same thing happened with Lamb he came out and said it his agents and him said we were not going to sign until we saw either Chase or Jefferson set the market they wanted to know where the number was they were not going to sign early lots of players are doing this now they're smart enough they're representatives of smart enough if they're in that kind of tier where their top five players and they know it they are not taking less..

"Here we go!" (Dak 2023 voice)
Right because the Twitter JPA news source is official as if this was started by the front office and it wasn't can we stop this nonsense when you hear Jerry or somebody that actually isn't official make a clear concise and official statement on the George Pickens contract, you let me know anything else in that is trolling it's just a bunch of rumors.. So the media and content creators and fans are starting this nonsense not Dallas so you can thank yourselves for creating all this drama..

I'll be in Indy next week. I'm sure I will hear tons of things from colleagues and NFL people that you and others will claim are unsubstantiated.

The drama is nothing fabricated by fans at all. It is a known thing in League circles that the Cowboys have a way of doing things as it pertains to high profile players and contract negotiations.

You can believe what you like. Professionally I know for a fact from past personal experience how they handle these things using media.

For all of you who defend Jerry, year after year, and refuse to see that he is a dirty dealing snake, here is your first evidence of the season.
They will tell you this is not from an official source or fake news or unsubstantiated since it doesn't come directly from The Star.

As if people haven't seen it over and over from the organization.

one of the things that happens repeatedly is that when Jerry dos something awful his defenders deny it.

Then, after the fact, when it’s obvious what happened, they, at best will say “I think it might be different now. Let’s wait and see.”

And the cycle continues.

Jerry and Stephen have been proven to use the media to leak dirt, going back decades.

Does anyone think that Clarence gets the first question at almost every press conference?

Does anyone believe Jane hasn’t been used to unearth ancient “dirt” just when negotiations heat up, when it’s long been known how friendly she is with Stephen?

And, the Fan hosts are obviously on a short leash with the axe hanging over them since Jerry and the Cowboys are the only thing keeping that station relevant in the market.

Local media is so deep under the covers with Jerry that when he Dutch ovens them, they claim it smells like spring time.

And here you said it twice. almost back to back... Are you sure you're not sticking up for Jerry?
I can preface a disclaimer when giving an opinion—it’s my own and not about defending Jerry, just addressing the situation. Every topic that sparks opinions is different, and in this case, I’m not defending Jerry. I didn’t defend him during the Parsons debacle either; I saw three parties involved, all acting immature, childish, and ego-driven, which led to a messy split. Yes, Jerry played a part, but right now we’re talking about rumor mills. This latest nonsense from some place called JPA is being treated like gospel, which it’s not—it’s just someone stirring up clickbait during a slow sports period. They’re posting it as if it’s fact and reflects the front office’s stance, but in this case, Jerry has nothing to do with it. He’s not posturing publicly, negotiations haven’t started, and the only statement made—by the Pickens side—was that they’d like to begin talks at the combine. There’s been no response from the star, so why would Jerry be involved? I’m not defending him in general, just in this situation. And hopefully it doesn’t bother anyone that not all of us carry pitchforks and torches—we form our own opinions and don’t need to be told how to feel or react.

Ah the picture that got him shuffled out of town

I think you are still a believer of the Joneses lulling ways. They have all under control, everthing works and worked out they way they wanted it to etc...

Incompetent conteol freaks need their audience to believe they have everything under control.

For me the frightening part is that this all is so obvious. Still there seem to be people like you who fall for their ways.

And its not obvious for some time now, the Joneses and who they are was clear to see from the day Jerry bought this franchise

This picture is the POC of how to deal with the Joneses to get what you want. It should be hanging in every Dallas Cowboys fans household as a sign of power and knowledge!

Good GM's are having all sorts of unofficial discussions at the combine with agents trying to gauge interest for their clients. Not Jerry, he prefers to wait till the last second even if its his own player that he says he wants to sign and can legally discuss things with.

If they can get 2-3 picks for Pickens. I do it in a heartbeat. As we saw this season, having that high powered offense didnt help us win games.
That is a bad take on it, everyone except I guess u knows why we lost games , the defense was so bad.
They need a good offense for playoffs and big reg season games.
Pickens would be a good piece to have for a few years.

What if you trade him for picks and the picks dont pan out?? you lost a good wr for some jags or mediocre players. Bird in the hand !
