That might be the case but in his short time playing the position he played at a high level. But hopefully Steele gets it together and it’s a non issue.

Steele is almost as bad as Guyton with his pass blocking.

75/89 PFF ranking.

There are 30+ starting RTs.

That means the next 40+ are better than Steele.

But that contract locks in Steele. Can’t afford to cut him.

It’s still not a great ranking but PFF puts all tackle grades together. There is no splitting it by LT/RT.

Fair enough but at least Guyton has a first round pedigree and some possible upside that we have yet to see.

We already know what Steele isn’t. Also one is on a rookie deal and the other is stupidly overpaid.

I'm talking just based on what they have done so far. I'm not saying the book is written on who Guyton will be by any means.

Maybe in passing situations this year, the Cowboys keep Brevyn Spann-Ford tied to the hip pocket of Steele to chip the rusher and allow him to get an extra step on a defender. At the end of the day, Terence Steele might be the offensive line’s fifth-best lineman, and that’s okay. As long as the Cowboys aren’t naïve to that fact and can game plan accordingly on game day, it should be fine.

I know that. You know that. The Cowboys know that. But they don't seem to have TE's chip instead release them off the line into a pattern.

Terence Steele has to fix some things​

On the opposite side, Terence Steele did not have a great day against the Rams. On 105.3 The Fan, Voch Lombardi talked about what he saw from the Cowboys right tackle and it wasn’t a glowing review.


Is it a five-alarm fire? It shouldn’t be because Byron Young is the Rams’ second-best pass rusher next to Garrett. However, a team’s second-best rusher can’t look like an All-Pro if the Cowboys are looking to replicate what they did last year on offense.

steele is a liability. not only he can't hold fort, at all, he needs help all the time in passing game. he is a revolving door and close to totally useless on passing plays.

All of this is logically sound provided it is only Steele needing the help on his side.
My opinion is that Guyton requires this same help.

It will be hard or next to impossible to win games if Schott has to resort to a max protect compensation package for both tackles on every pass play.

This is what I see happening as the season progresses.

Bro, this is the BIG picture thing from my eyes. From a heaad coach's perspective. One (Schottenheimer)who has been coaching offense for 30 years in the NFL. You have personally witnessed both your offensive tackles struggle as competent NFL pass blockers for 2 years now. Now specifically you are watching your right tackle decline even worse as each day passes and your best case scenario is that your left tackle can finally attain league average competence and some kind of sustained durability as a pass blocker in his third year of trying.

These are the facts for this year's team bro.

The opportunities to address the offensive tackle position should have produced more than an NFL weak Shelton in the 4th round.

Now specifically you are watching your right tackle decline even worse as each day passes and your best case scenario is that your left tackle can finally attain league average competence and some kind of sustained durability as a pass blocker in his third year of trying.
