I would have liked to have held on to him (and we still might) just to see how he develops. It isn't likely that he'll become a starter and maybe not even a competent backup, but I just believe he was worth trying to develop. I'm not going to sweat it if we don't get him back, but that doesn't mean I like it that we didn't keep the experiment going for another year.

Jones has looked very capable in pass protection for the Cardinals this preseason. He has a feel for timing and space when matched up one-on-one with edge rushers. He has quick feet when moving laterally to mirror rushes. Jones is better as a pass protector than a run blocker. But he took a step forward in the run game in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers, including a key block on a long touchdown run. Jones played left tackle and right tackle in the preseason. He is the best swing tackle option on the waiver wire.

He was maybe the most steady offensive lineman during the preseason and a guy they had last year as well.

Int's are going to happen to a young QB on a bad team. They almost always are going to be pressing because they are losing. I don't think you would be asking either guy to win games....more that they don't lose games. Howell fits that bill better by all accounts. I would have been fine either way. I can see the benefits of either guy. It isn't like there are a bunch of better backups available out there. Levis was a high pick. No one seems too excited about him.

I think too often fans see a slip in play and want to blame the player's work ethic when it's really just the wear and tear on their body that's to blame.
