It's one of the more extreme causes for team failure from a historical perspective.A recurring theme among the Cowboys players. As soon as they sign a long-term deal they stop playing.
Steele
Ferguson
Prescott
Williams

The list is a lot longer than that, but the bigger problem is they sign mediocre players to all-pro deals.A recurring theme among the Cowboys players. As soon as they sign a long-term deal they stop playing.

I don't get it.And if they left and signed somewhere else?
Fans would complain why didn’t Jerry keep them.I don't get it.
Outside of Williams, who I would like to see more of...I doubt many wouldFans would complain why didn’t Jerry keep them.
You’re right. It’s the fans fault the FO keeps overpaying mediocre players. And if they left and signed somewhere else?
An amazing dichotomy occurred after you trade Micah:The list is a lot longer than that, but the bigger problem is they sign mediocre players to all-pro deals.
This is stupid. Ferguson was top 5 in redzone touchdowns, Dak had a top 5 season last year…Quinnen is a baller…Steele is the only one who sucks and he didn’t stop playing he got hurt and never was the same.A recurring theme among the Cowboys players. As soon as they sign a long-term deal they stop playing.

I agree. Stop playing doesn’t even make sense. Seems like anyone named pokes always trolling. This is entirely nonsense when you apply any sort of context. I don't even know what "stop playing" is supposed to mean?
In what way has Dak "stopped playing" since 2019?
In what way has Williams "stopped playing" in the one game since he signed?
Just such a dumb, whiney point.
Bland had back-to-back seasons of 5+ INTs dummy. His contract was a no brainer at the time, and they had the cap space regardless of the Micah trade. An amazing dichotomy occurred after you trade Micah:
You suddenly had a flush of cap space you were going to use on him, so you instead extended Tyler Smith super early. This may be the single best move Jerry had ever made as a GM. I seem to remember Tyron Smith’s deal was early too and it was almost immediately a steal with the way the cap went up. Tyler’s feels similar; absolutely franchise-altering decision making.
But at the same time you signed Daron Bland to maybe the worst contract Jerry has ever given out. 20 million a year, wow. At least Jaylon Smith showed promise when you extended him. Bland is basically a poor man’s Diggs. Like Diggs, he had a fluke interception season fueled by Quinn’s aggressive defense, and now with Quinn gone he not only gets no interceptions (1 single pick since 2023) but he often has guys running away from him.
Yet Jerry signed him to contract as if he’s been repeating that feat every year since. It didn’t make sense then, it doesn’t make sense now, and it still won’t make sense after next season when you cut him for not living up to his deal.
Other franchises hold their players to higher standards than Dallas does. There's a good chance they would excel with their new teams because they might actually be forced to earn their payAnd if they left and signed somewhere else?
You can feel how you want but there is nothing mediocre about Quinnen, Dak or Ferg. Steele is worse than mediocre. You’re right. It’s the fans fault the FO keeps overpaying mediocre players.
Bland contract is fine. 20 million a year for an all pro corner? An amazing dichotomy occurred after you trade Micah:

Back to back season under Quinn. Then you signed him after his injury riddled 0 pick season where he kept getting beat. And guess which version remainsBland had back-to-back seasons of 5+ INTs dummy. His contract was a no brainer at the time.
Smith was never good.
The worst contract Jerry has handed out is Dak's, hands down. Dak is a playoff loser and got rewarded for it. What kind of moron does that?An amazing dichotomy occurred after you trade Micah:

Smith had like one good year and a half but he was never as good as Bland. I don’t get how he can hype up Smith as showing promise but knock bland who had one of the best seasons as a corner in recent memory. A poor man’s Diggs shows his lack of knowledge they played nothing alike.Bland had back-to-back seasons of 5+ INTs dummy. His contract was a no brainer at the time, and they had the cap space regardless of the Micah trade.

Once all-pro because of a fluke statistic due to a DC who’s no longer there.Bland contract is fine. 20 million a year for an all pro corner?
