The 2026 NFL (and Cowboys) Reset

His agent promised not to make Jerrys nudes public

I didn't read the whole thread. But I'm confused, aren't nudes of skeletor just a skeleton?

There are legit arguments for 4-0 and 0-4. So at 2-2 the Cowboys are probably exactly what they should be right now.
I predicted 9-8 on the year so they are about where I thought they would be at this point, but i am very impressed with offense. I thought it might fall off a bit from last year, but it looks better than ever this year. It's the defense once again that will determine how far this team goes, although the Special Teams are bad too.

They are 100% absolutely NOT football people. Not even in the same realm as football people.
Yes, they are. They’re just terrible football people.

Bobby Carpenter was a football player. He was just a terrible football player.

Well, I think your definition of football people is different than the standard accepted one.

If you buy a hospital and name yourself lead surgeon despite no experience does that make you a doctor?
In a hyper capitalist world, if you also buy a medical school, pay off the national and state licensing boards, and buy a hospital, then yeah. You could. You’d be terrible at it, but you’d be a doctor.

In fact, it would be medical malpractice. But we have GM malpractice every year.

And with enough money you could buy your way out of both.

I get it. He’s a terrible GM, but us being mad about it doesn’t change the fact that he has more years as GM than anyone in the NFL. It just makes it more frustrating.

Disagree. You would not be a doctor.

Just got a 2nd for Cam Jurgens. Word is that Barkley's on the block. Not substantiated that I know of
Yep, and Roseman wasn't scared in the least to draft Hurts while releasing Wentz and eating his 40 plus million dollar cap hit at the time which was a record.

For '28 they got AJ Brown's 1st rd pick and their own and Cam Jurgens 2nd rd pick and their own.

Not saying they would fully tank at the 4 game mark of the season, but Roseman is extremely good at building future rosters.
Something that bears watching.

How they get high round assets for injured players is beyond me. Wentz and Jurgens.

However, one thing they do is go by the Bellychickens mantra. Better to trade a player a year early than a year late. You see, Cam MIGHT be able to play at a high level again. Philly wisely traded him while it was still up in the air. And I would imagine they have a viable replacement on the roster.

Jerry is a chicken, he's terrified that someone might find one of our players useful if he trades them away. What a coward.

Yep to all of the above but the biggest thing is Roseman actually knows how to evaluate talent.

The Cowboy GM impersonator does not possess this basic job requirement.

Yup. Because no matter how hard he tries, no matter how long he's around it, Jerry pure and simple is not a football guy. And he doesn't try to be. Doesn't watch tape, doesn't analyze anything, just throws his ownership weight around and fires anyone who doesn't like it.

Each summer, during training camp and pre-season game time, fans and sports pundits look at the draft, FA signings, previous season performance, and upcoming season schedules then confidently predict how the NFL season will play out. It’s a tradition we all usually participate in.

Then the season starts and reality sets in.

After nearly 25% of the season - surprise!! - we have some surprises. Who had the giants leading the NFCE at 3-1? Who had the raiders at 3-1 after 4 games? Who had Cle at 3-1 and leading the AFC North? Who had the Texans and that (supposed) “great” defense starting 0-4? Who had the “mighty” rams fighting to be 2-2? The e-girls looking bad at 2-2? The list goes on….

I know - It’s way too early to say these surprise teams or trends are a lock. Things will change. But it’s not too early to recognize the NFL is always in a state of flux.

Truth is the NFL resets itself every year. And the Cowboys are also certainly also in a reset. Especially on defense.

The Cowboys defense is full of young players who will take some time to develop and learn the scheme that their 34 year old rookie DC is trying to implement. After 4 games it’s obvious this defense is still (to put it kindly) a long way from being good. But it can get better because the talent level is better than last year. But it may take weeks.

Here are the simple truths about what the Cowboys are so far:
  • This is a team with a very good offense that needs to score 30 every week to win.
  • This is team with a very young defense trying to find itself.
  • Right now, this team is exactly what its record says it is - mediocre.
The NFL is in a reset like it does every year. And the Cowboys are certainly in one too. Our 2-2 record says exactly who we are so far. Good on offense, bad on defense. If the defense can improve as we go, we might be a playoff team. If not, the reset continues into 2027.
The key 2 words in this entire post.
