Poll: The Jake Ferguson Incompletion Turned Interception

Should Ferguson have caught this pass?

Yes.

No ifs, buts, or maybes.

A TE1 on a contender (and remember, this is what they like to tell us they are) makes that catch — all. day. long.

All I saw is that an NFL starting TE had the ball hit him in his hands for the second time in the game and he didn’t make the play. PERIOD!!!!! Just like I said Dak Prescott played like crap most of that game. Didn’t pick or choose one over the other - both needed to do better. But, on THAT play, Jake Ferguson crapped the bed…as he’s been doing for most of the year.
They all still don't get it. We understand them. Ball wasn't thrown perfectly it it maybe had too much velocity and it was thrown a little higher than his chest. Very. Catchable. It's in a catch radius. You get paid to catch the ball. He should be demoted for as bad as he played last year, and now this year he can't block or catch. He barely gets open. And somehow we want to question the validity of the throw. No, the throw wasn't perfect, but it was catchable. When it's catchable, it should be cocked if it's not caught. It is what it is. But it wasn't Prescott's fault that he's been under pressure all game. The Blitz was getting through. Guys were not getting open quick enough and he was trying to throw the ball so it couldn't be tipped or intercepted and only be caught by his guy and his guys failing him. He should be demoted. It's like 75% of the great catches we've ever seen were balls that were not thrown on target. We would never have highlight reels if it had been for balls not being. Thrown perfectly, that goes for interceptions. Ridiculous catches, you know. Just the things that we see in top 10 highlight reels on ESPN, those plays like OBJ.

Those happen because the quarterback can't always throw them all. Perfect. And you're paid to catch balls that are in your catch radius. And that for sure was more than catchable. It didn't need to jump or dive.

It's the same group. That when they saw the Noah Brown play, I don't know if it was the overtime from the Jaguars game or the Packer game in 20Locke sat at his courtroom of free mail.22. I believe they were on the road winning and then all of a sudden this is what the receivers were doing. But I think Noah Brown, they were all saying that was Prescott didn't throw the ball, right? And then after they saw the replay in seven angles, they still were in denial, even though they knew that that's all on Noah Brown lost us that game.

Yes, but Prescott holds on to the ball too long , lol
I stopped arguing discussing, debating, with a certain crowd a while ago, at some point, you have to stop hitting yourself in the head with a hammer, lol and let it go,
Great break down, ball in front the whole time.

If you've never played receiver or tight end, you wouldn't know why that was a bad pass.
Running across the field and trying to get open but then having a ball thrown harder than you expect right at your helmet- which is actually behind the catch zone- is actually one of the hardest passes to catch.
Apparently Dak threw it harder than normal- you can see how much it bounced- and that was a very tough catch to make because Ferguson was moving the other way and probably didn't see it until it was right in front of him.
It looked like Dak got scared and threw it earlier than they had practiced and harder than they had practiced.

I think he should have caught it, but I think when they look at the tape both guys will want that one back. Dak’s ball was a bit wobbly which added to the difficulty. But you know if guys can make one hand grabs while jumping and make that look like a normal catch, Ferguson should be able to pull this down.

Voted no after reading comments, this is mainly a anti ferg thread.
People comment on earlier drop, and his fumbles from previous games, which have nothing to do
with this play, but it does show that they are clearly biased.
(people even compared him to WR's lol.

I thought the pass was way too hard and too high and a little behind Ferg.
Hard to catch a ball like that. Also right in his face area, so then his hands block the view of the ball.
Never throw at their face for that very reason.

Now if he was a better "hands" catcher , or has bigger good hands he might make that catch.
I have never considered him to be that .
I dont think that is a good route to have a TE run, so its on shotty too.

I think you dont throw hig to anyone coming across the middle like that and you have to throw a softer ball in from of them and down lower.
Dak and shotty evidently dont know this.

This is proof positive he should have caught it. People can say it was a bullet, but he saw it. it was right there in his catch radius, and even if it wasn't in the 100% perfect spot for his momentum, that's a catch for any good TE or WR.

Lmao!

If you can't see that was an almost perfect pass then it's YOU who has never played the game.

Try again, kid.

I treat the adults here like an adult and treat kids like kids. It's that simple.
I played a pick up flag football game amoungst friends. We actually played basketball almost every sunday. For years.
We did turkey bowl flag football every thanksgiving. I usually put the turkey in the oven and go down to shirt talk my buds from sideline.
But a few years ago...i put the flag belt on it was first and goal at the ten. I told our qb im a noob....but ill line up on your left...run to goal line and split hard left. He threw it to me!

I kept running in same direction...to the sideline....put my arm IN FRONT of me in the direction i was running....to the sideline...and the ball landed in my hand....TD.

This football play has a lot in common with basketball assist plays. Dak us not Magic Johnson.

Meanwhile...a pickup flag football game has more situational awareness than your crew or....seemingly..dak.

Another person with the “it was slightly behind Ferg” take. That ball was in hands, a little over his head, and directly in a vertical line with the numbers on his chest…I swear, the lengths some of you will go to blame Dak for EVERYTHING that is wrong with this team is EXACTLY why this team keeps falling short of whatever expectations people have for them. According to those same people, anyone NOT named Dak gets a million excuses why they can’t do their jobs, but Dak has to carry the team…and the blame.

I'll never understand the kids these days. Gibberish.

Its me....not you.

Go ahead, say it. "Boomer"
:)
Your comment is as confusing as the thoughts on whether Fergie should have caught it or be granted immunity to his hands in this thread. That specific play tells us why there is not much success with this team.

To be fair, how much pressure was your QB under?
