Even though Sean has not completed a full season without any time off from injury, I think he deserves the extension Jerry gave him.

Keep up the great playing Sean.

Im still Penn State proud of you. ;)

couldn't agree more....VERY good player when healthy which hasn't been a heckuva lot....what's the HURRY? More of the same clown show at V.Ranch with Jerrah

So is it a "clown show" if Sean Lee stay's healthy and becomes a Pro Bowler? That 42 million dollar deal all of a sudden turns into a bargain. I will never understand some of you guys on here. You guys were upset that we gave Barry Church a 15 million dollar deal lol.

So the best route is to wait until a guy plays out of his mind his contract year(they always do) so you can overpay him?

We sign one of our best players to a great deal for both sides. Leaves us plenty of room for Dez and others...And people on this board find something to gripe about....SMH and Laughing at the same time.....As much as I can't stand JJ, this is a job well done!!!!Sometimes you have to drop your hatred of someone and give them props when props are due...

And does that value translate to championships? You're avoiding the question.

I'm not avoiding anything. In the NFL the contract is not always equal to the salary cap hit. On this team, Dez' big hits won't come until the end of the Romo era. I will trade salary cap trouble down the road to build a serious Super Bowl contender for the next 5 years. Obviously there is more than one way to skin a cat, but I don't agree at all with your option of turning one high priced superstar, ready to enter his prime into 4 possibly good players. You keep the AllStar and continue to draft well and re-stock with younger players. We got a top 5 player late in the first round and have been through the maturation process with Bryant and I'm not about to throw away the rewards of that good fortune for unknown draft picks.

My feelings exactly!!! I have a lot of problems with Jerry's handling of this franchise but when he does make a good decision (like this contract) I am more than willing to recognize and applaud it. My problem is that this type of good decision seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Maybe it is a sign that after 19 years, Jerry is finally "getting it". Of course, I've thought this before and ended up disappointed as usual when it proves to be (again) an exception instead of the rule.

I'm happy with the extension. Deserving player. Great for the team. Let's hope he can play all 16+ games this year.

Lee has to play 80 percent of the team's snaps to reach those escalators

Seems smart, one would wonder why they don't use this more.

Huh?

By my math Calvin Johnson's 7y/$132m deal comes to $18.8 million a year.

By my math Larry Fitzgerald's 8y/$120m deal comes to $15 million a year.

I am in no way advocating trading Dez, however, I fully expect Dez will require a contract like Megatron / Larry Fitzgerald and the kind of deal will have a very significant impact on the Cowboys who are already butting up against the cap.

Do you know how the salary cap works?

I wasn't saying that they were elite, just the idea of having to sign them at some point, makes me concerned about resigning Dez, who I think is great.

It's about opportunity costs

What is better

LEFT HAND
Dez Bryant at 15+ million per year

RIGHT HAND
2 first round draft picks + anything we can get on top of that
3 veteran players at 5 million per year or or 5 veteran players at 3 million per year

It's difficult to warrant paying a player that much money.

The mid market veteran 3 to 5 million dollar deals are the absolute worst deals to give out.

They are the ones you always regret.

Btw having Dez on the field makes everyone on offense life easier. Every single play.

I remember reading previously that Sean Lee had grown up a huge Steelers fan and perhaps would look to leave after he was done (no citations... just something I remember reading)

this is a relief. Congrats Sean and here's to hoping you can stay on the field!

That is me sighing in relief. :) not Sean... If the mods can fix the title...

Good extension
Playing in the 4-3 will help him stay healthy

I'm really glad to have Lee locked up. That's excellent. Now I just want to see him be able to stay healthy and prove that contract to be the great investment that it should be.

There was no way that the Steelers were going to get Lee. He would ask for way too much money. He would have been more likely to go to a divisional rival.

Like I said you're just an actor.

Don't try to convince me of your made up life.

Ummm...what? Now I don't know if he has a pool or not, doesn't really matter I don't suppose, but having a pool isn't exactly a 'dream'. It's not hard at all to have one and there are people making very average money that have them. This just seems like a really odd thing to argue with him about.
