I heard on the news this morning that the couple called 911 four times during the ordeal. These bikers are idiots. I do not feel bad one iota for the biker that is now a pancake.

Makes you wonder how it took police so long to get on scene. The video is 6 minutes long and they still aren't there at the end of it.

As we now know... At least one of them WAS at the scene.

True, although im not sure what the policies or procedures for an undercover cop are.

Was he trying to keep his identity hidden as long as the guy wasn't getting seriously hurt?

Even if he did try to help out, he probably would have gotten rushed and taken out as well.. and then there would have been the added danger of things escalating when a gun was pulled.

Either way though, uniformed police officers should have been much quicker to respond, especially if they called multiple times and likely told them where they would be driving to.

According to at least one source he wasn't there (as part of the biker gang) to investigate them.

It seems as though he was just out for a joy ride

I dunno... looking at the video the guy looked like he was getting seriously hurt to me! LOL!

Also according to the NY Post the cop turned in his badge and gun on Friday...

http://nypost.com/2013/10/04/undercover-cop-stood-by-as-bikers-beat-dad/

So some where along the way those within the NYC Police Dept thought he handled it wrong.

I agree about the speed of (or lack there of) how fast "cavalry arrived". I wonder if part of the problem was that the SUV was a moving target so you couldn't send anyone to the corner of 1st and Main let's say.

Hmm.. well good on him then. I just wasn't aware of what his undercover assignment was or what policies they have for undercover work. But it seems if he wasn't infiltrating the group for any purpose, than i would agree its ridiculous that he didn't step in.

As for the police force.. seems like it would be pretty easy for the guy in the SUV to say that he was going to drive to a certain location and for them to be there waiting. Seems in 5 minutes time they should be able to be there waiting. Idk.. just seemed like a very slow response that led to the guy taking the beating.. and it could have meant his life.

That's what I was thinking, stay on the highway at a good speed, and call 9-1-1.

The video ended without seeing how how the episode ended. How did this end?

I agree. Stay on the freeway call 911 tell them the situation. I tell them I'm not getting off freeway you have your patrol cars come find me as I'm fearing for my wife and childs life.

If you watch video closely there are bikes on entrance ramps blocking traffic. SUV decided this is Ludacris tried to go through once he was on the freeway. Hard to see but apparently tried slashing tires and started to hit the SUV. At this point I gun it and don't look back. Video ends with him going into the city as dispatcher told him to drive to police station but hits traffic. Bikers surround him one guy uses helmet to break driver side window take him out and beats him. You can find it on youtube.

Apparently their goal was to make it to time square. Police were aware of this before hand and had set up road blocks and check points. A lo of Motorcycles were impounded and citations were given for I forget what.

Oh my goodness.. you are too much, man.

At least I didn't sit there and do nothing, like the undercover..
You obviously didn't see the beginning when the bikers swarmed his SUV and break checked him and that's when is escalated. We are talking about 1 guy with his 2 year old Daughter in the car and the bikers were the aggressors. Sorry can't defend them they looked like a bunch of crazed idiots after 1 man. NYPD has stated the SUV was not in the wrong and no charges will be filed. So obviously they have enough evidence to conclude this.

I'm not defending what the bikers did. I do think the SUV driver could have handled it better by not gunning it and running over that one guy.

Your logic is ridiculous. He should have stepped in either way. But like most cowards, he stood there and watched, er, protected and served.

The victim was not a perpetrator in this case, to my knowledge. I'd still like to know what prompted the whole thing. But since I don't, I can't justify defending the guy using his vehicle as a weapon.

An off-duty NYPD undercover officer was among the biker gang that chased a family and beat the father mercilessly. The unnamed policeman stood by and did nothing as a biker gang pulled a man from his car and beat him in front of his family. The officer waited three days to come forward and has been placed on modified duty. He turned his gun and badge in on Friday.

Alexian Lien was beaten by a biker gang last week after a single rider brake-checked him, causing him to fear that his life was in danger. He bumped into one biker, which caused the entire group to stop in front of him. Lien feared for his life and for his family who were in the car with him so he drove forward, smashing into motorcycles and running over one. When the bikers finally caught up to him down the road, he was beaten within an inch of his life, and one NYPD officer was there to watch it happen, but did nothing.

“It is does not appear that he got involved at the scene, He didn’t want to blow his cover,” said a source. The officer was not involved in an undercover investigation of the bikers that day

The bikers slashed his tires.. that's why he couldn't stay on the freeway.

It sounds like police violated their right to assemble....

My logic isn't ridiculous at all.. you just continue to talk before seeing the big picture.

If he was investigating some aspect of this biker group and they were perpetrating some much more serious acts than simply beating down a guy, then its unfortunate, but you have to make sacrifices sometimes for the greater good. One man getting beaten down wouldn't be worth many more people being put in harms way.

Your problem is you had some run in with the law in the past and now you think all police officers are horrible people who don't care about people at all.

Its quite humerous actually.. especially that post where you said you can't defend the SUV driver for using his vehicle as a weapon, but you certainly had no problem defending the capitol hill lady who was using her vehicle as a weapon.

lol

Honestly, in this thread, and in all the others you post in with your nonsense about police officers.. they all seem to have one common theme.

Care to take a guess what that theme is?

(Hint: Several posters have called you out for it already in this thread)

The lady was possibly using her vehicle as a weapon, but they didn't need to shoot her. That was my point. But you seem to ignore details to suit your stupid logic.

Have I had run ins with the law? Yes... who hasn't? Petty stuff. I'm not a felon. In any case, you present a classic a red herring argument.

When speaking of the SUV driver, what I'm saying is he could have gone slowly through the bikers. Yes, the bikers were being morons. And they were using their vehicles as weapons too.

And, Roy, to clue you in, he was not investigating anything regarding the biker group. He was joy-riding with them.

Yet he never intervened nor called the police while some guy was nearly killed.

I know you'll never understand that cops have a duty to protect and serve others, not their own interests.

This "undercover" who stood by and did jack squat (which is his job), only serves my point that you refuse to see since you lick boots when it comes to these things.

Which means either you're a cop or you use ridiculous logic.

Oh, and one more thing. He never brought this incident to the attention of his superiors until 3 days later... probably because it had gone viral and gained media attention by then.

But he's the good guy here, right?

Your first sentence says it all.. again. Its really worthless debating anything police related with you because of your silly perspective.

If you can't even admit that the lady was CLEARLY using her vehicle as a weapon.. then there's a problem with your basic logic.

She rammed into a barricade.. with a 1 year old in the car.

She rammed into several police cruisers.. with her vehicle.

She HIT several police officers, several human beings WITH HER VEHICLE.

There's no "possibly" about what she was doing.. and police officers in the middle of DC don't have the benefit of hindsight like you when you sit there in your little chair and type out your pathetic critiques of them. You don't consider the fact that they had no idea what her intentions were. She committed a series of violent and crazy acts, using her vehicle as a battering ram against human beings and trying to gain access to several of the most secure US buildings. She was doing in this in one of the most heaivy pedestrian areas in teh country and could have hit or killed many many more people if they didn't put a stop to it.

Could they have shot her tire out? They could have tried.. maybe the miss and kill her anyway. Maybe they miss and kill the child. Maybe the miss and kill her. Maybe the shoot the tires out and she slams into a building or wall or street pole and dies anyway.

So many things that you don't consider because, as you readily admit, you throw out your opinions before you even know everything that happened.

Again, its quite amusing, but no rational discussion on these issues ever comes from any of your opinions.

And McCoy.. to clue you in to your own words on the topic of the bikers, you said that whether he was investigating them or not, he was a coward for not stepping in.

So i replied to you that if he was investigating some much more series matters involving that group of bikers (yes, we know now he wasn't, bud) than sometimes unfortunately sacrifices have to be made for the greater good..

Get it now?

Don't answer that.. because we already know the answer.

Has anyone in this thread said that undercover cop was "the good guy"?

Just to share my opinion again, which you can go back and read from a previous post of mine:

Im glad to hear he turned in his badge.. he clearly isn't cut out for the line of work he's in, even though he'll be allowed to remain on the force in a more minor role.

Aka.. NOT a good guy. For once, we agree.. this cop was a coward.

lol, good grief.

Funny, but you're really off-base about my reasons for "not liking" the police. I hold the view that we don't need them. If I went into that any further, I'm sure Jobber would be on it and deem it as a political discussion.

And, we're talking about two different situations here. But both could have had better outcomes.

You seem to advocate shooting the mentally ill. The fact is, we already know this woman is mentally ill. Was she acting dangerously? Yes, she was. Was her intent to injure people. I don't think so. Otherwise, she could and would have injured someone immediately.

I'd run, too, if a bunch of plain-clothed cops brandished their guns on me. How was she supposed to know they were cops?

We're talking about two entirely different situations here. It doesn't take a genius to see that you're trying to compare apples to apples because it suits your lame logic.

I think in both cases, everyone was wrong. The lady was wrong, but she was ill. The cops were wrong to shoot her. But it's something we often see from tax-leech cowards.

In the case of the bikers, the bikers were wrong. But so was the driver for running over the biker.

Then, we have the cop, who it turns out is the worst of them all.

But you'll never see the irony in that....
