I doubt the guy is playing after reading this...

DT Jason Hatcher a game-time decision with pinched nerve. A UFA after season, he says, "I'm not going to go out there and put bad film on."

More Hatcher: "I've been playing well so if I can't be the Jason Hatcher that I was before I got hurt, then I'm not going out there."

Well, folks, that confirms it. I'd rather him rest up anyway. If he can't raise his arm above shoulder level, then he definitely shouldn't be out there playing. He's a good player, but just how valuable would he be when he's hurt?

Good news - he gets an extra week of rest before our next game.

Bad news - we really need him against New Orleans.

Ware could use the rest as well. and yet, he is playing....everyone that can walk or crawl should be available since the bye is coming starting Monday...then, in a few weeks, after playing 2 games in 5 days, there is another 10 days off...

...get in the game Hatch, the team needs you

Strange he would just come out and say that especially after the Rat fiasco. If you just said you were hurt no one would question it.

My thinking too.

Makes it sound as if his 'film' is more important than his team winning a game that they really need to have.

As if he's already gone and just playing out the string of games until he gets his payday.

That was exactly my take on it. "I'm not going to give it all for my teammates. I'm more worried about free agency."

Hmm, don't know how I feel about those comments. There is 100% and there is less than 100%. Is he saying that unless I am 100%, I will not play because I do not want to be a hindrance to the team, or is he saying I don't want to go out there and put up bad film, because I don't want to hurt my chance of getting a big new contract (business decision) next season? Like I said, I don't know how to take this.

Wow, you guys can read more into a statement than a group of ladies sitting around playing bridge

How do you interpret the comment about not wanting any bad film out there, WPB? Bad film has nothing to do with anything but looking ahead to FA, IMHO.

It could be, but it could just be his way of saying Im not good enough to play well enough to help the team and it will be real obvious when we look at the tape that I shouldnt have played.

It's possible he only phrased it badly. I hope that's the case.

I
I don't know. I like to think I'm pretty fair but I don't like that statement about putting up bad film in a contract year.[/quote]

I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but that statement does make me go "hmmm".

Coming from a guy who does a "show me the money" celebration after every sack, those comments aren't surprising.

Don't be ignorant. He was clearly talking about hurting his contract next year when he could make it on to the pitch right now. He is currently getting paid to play, saying to the media "I don't feel like it" becuase you might not be 100% is unacceptable. If you can play, you suit up.

Saying that you are not going to play if you cannot play well is not the same as saying you are not going to play.

Sounds like hand wringing to me.

That is not clear.

He watches film all the time. They go over film with coaches all the time.

I could just as easily say, 'he is clearly talking about not wanting to give a poor showing that he will have to face with his coaches and teammates.'

They both make cool stories though.

Sounds like hand wringing to me.

And saying you don't want to hurt your team isn't the same as saying "bad film".

Sounds like people seeing or not seeing what they want to see to me.
