What is wrong with Romo?

We are 8th in the league in purely offensive scoring. Tied for 3rd in passing TDs.

I wish our defense could attain that kind of mediocrity.

He is being too conservative. Not wanting to throw a pick. Oh and playing in a crap scheme.

I hate when tony gets happy feet in the pocket when he thinks he's going to get sacked he puts his head down and starts looking for a soft spot to go down.

Lets face it, he only has about 3 more years playing at a relatively high level. And we won't be able to turn this ship around by then IMO. So I'm already thinking about our qb of the future.

As with ufcrules, everyone knows you hate Romo as well and so no one pays any attention to your posts on the subject.

Such a clown post, bro. You're saying it's a night and day difference between Orton and Romo in Orton's favor? And what do you mean "was dominant", he's still played at a high level this year. There's a reason other teams didn't want Orton as a starter, and there's a reason Orton himself wants only a back up job.

Worst pass defense in yardage... Not worst pass defense in scoring. And they were middle of the pack in scoring until recently, the numbers obscured by the Saints and Bears. Outside of that, defense was holding teams in an average around the league. And seriously, your defense of not having to "score" if they just played is ridiculously dumb. Yardage doesn't put points on the board, TDs and FGs do. Additionally, we already have close to ten more TOs this year than last year total, with three games left to play. This defense has added to our scoring on offense already more than last year. Our turnover differential is 3rd in the league, while last year it was 26th or so.

Maybe you didn't understand the post, cause it has nothing to do with Romo. It has to do with the offense and play calling, thus my clear reference to offense by design and Callahan and Garrett. Maybe try and understand a post properly before shooting off an irrelevant post.

I agree that there is no scientific way to determine the wins or losses but I think the point that some are making is that Romo does much to make this team better and he doesnt get enough credit for what he actually does. There are very few QB's that would make as much of a difference as Romo makes for this team - and while this cannot be proved it seems clearly evident.

Is there no middle ground?
I said tony is a second tier qb. It's not a knock on him. It's reality. Doesn't mean I hate him.

Yeah, because TOs are only relevant when the defense scores. How many scores this offense get off TOs, through Bailey kicking a field goal? You know, like when our defense forced six TOs against the Giants and Dallas had trouble punching it in, but Bailey bailed this offense out.
 
Romo is playing great ball in the context of this crappy offensive system and it's genius masterminds.

I just think he is good but not great. I don't hate his talent either. I recognize he's done good things here but he's second tier. I don't put him in aikman's category or any of those guys.
 
This defense, again, is being scapegoated to save this clown HC and his minions. Yeah, our defense is bad, but it's also been helping the offense out in scoring output and field position, way more than last year, by a large margin. Our offense is utterly pathetic in 3rd and long, and has been for a long time. We were just in that horrendously long stretch of not converting a 3rd and long in like over 27 attempts. This has been a problem with this system for ages and Romo's ability to stay alive in the pocket is the only thing that bandaged the wound. People all of the sudden forget this cause of the defense's performance against the Bears and Saints.

Yet you criticize his every move and blame him for all Cowboy failures.
 
This year the offensive game plan has been for more dink and dunk, conservative short passes, which really doesn't play into Romo's strengths. It's been beaten into him by the offensive staff to play it safe, play not to lose. There is not enough imagination or creativity in this Garrett/Callahan offense to be successful long term. I really don't think Romo is playing in a system that suits him. This offensive system does a poor job in playing to the players strengths and help create mismatches, for all the skill positions not just for Romo.

We have seen some flashes of the old Romo when they scrap the gameplan and go no-huddle and Tony takes control of the offense. I really think he would flourish in a different system without Garrett's influence.
