Romo hurt his back before TC. Maybe that is whats going on especially in light of the hits he took earlier in the season. They still haven't figured out the blitzes in the middle to boot.

He must be protecting himself because the last two he literally dives to the turf. He has only run a handful of times in the last 4 or 5 games but he plods. He doesn't have his quickness.

I don't think his cyst has anything to do with his back, Fuzzy. I think he was coached down to prevent those Int's that he had last year. Romo has always been a plodder when he scrambles. I have seen times this year where he still can escape around the pocket.

lol.. because maybe he just signed a 108m contract and I'm sure the Cowboys expected big things from him. Instead he is playing like a scared girl out there and isn't earning his money.

8th in QB rating, 3rd in TD passes, and we control our own destiny with 3 weeks to go despite dealing with the very worst D in football. I wonder what your definition of "big things" is.

I'm kidding, I don't care what you think. Just know that people who actually know football laugh at people like you.

One thing I will never understand is why people go into topics just to say how "idiotic" or "stupid" said topics are but continue to post in these "idiotic" and "stupid" topics,

And it's not always a topic based on Romo. Whether its Garrett, Callahan, Kiffin, Jerry or whoever, people always go into these topics stating how ridiculous they are but yet, they are compelled to post in them. If they are so ridiculous, why come in to say it? Why not just ignore the topic altogether and go on about your business? Does it bother you that much that someone is saying something negative about a football team, coach, or individual player so much that you refuse to accept that people will have their negative opinions irregardless to what you think?

First of all, smart man, Romo is only guaranteed 50 mil.

He is satisfied with where he is at. 2 big deal contracts , +60 mill and 100+, a gm that supports him 100%, never had to earn or try hard to keep his job. This guy is a made man why should he work hard ? This guy know his job is secure for another 2 years and have a guaranteed 50 million to look forward to.

Do you guys remember last year when everyone thought Romo would take a "friendly" deal ?... Sure it was friendly top paid ffriendly , esp for a qb who really hasn't done much but pad a qb rating.
Man, you never let up do you.
Way off base, yet again.

Then again, I'd like to see him take a few more chances. But if he even throws one ill timed pick, there are people like ufc (and maybe you too) who will remind everyone of it for years to come.
But really...27 TDs and 7 ints is what most teams dream of having from their QB.

I don't know man. He had much more quickness than he has been exhibited this season. He moves around like he did when he broke his ribs.

And I am pretty positive that the cyst was in his back.

I don't think they coached him to not try to escape pressure at all. Maybe they did though. Who knows?

So you come into a topic just to say how ridiculous this topic is but still post in this ridiculous topic anyway because "Its a Cowboys Forum"? Despite the fact that there are plenty more topics to choose from on said CowboysForum?

I feel sorry for your parents...

you really want to know? He knows his defense is the worst the nfl has ever seen and playing mistake free on offense is the only way we have a chance to win. He could do what he normally does but those shovel passes before the sack, those rollout escapes, those avoid 3 guys spinning around while staying in the pocket all have a possibility of a turnover as does throwing to dez in double coverage even though he would come down with it 80% of the time and we can't afford any of those because there absolutely zero confidence that the D will be able to overcome the short field. The strategy to me seems to be take what is there, don't do anything that could result in a turnover and hope that it is enough.

Great post.................there is nothing wrong with Romo..............he is being coached to avoid turnovers at all cost by our brilliant coaching staff.

Garrett has said repeatedly that it starts with the ball and ends with the ball and he emphasizes protecting the ball in just about every one of his pressers.

So when Garrett tells Romo, "whatever you do, dont turn the ball over"................what the hell do you think he is going to do? You think he is going to start throwing jump balls to Dez? Do you think he is going to be doing 360 spins in the pocket and throwing off his back foot?

Come on guys, its not that hard to figure out that he is being ultra conservative with the ball because that is what the coaches want. A gunslinger will turn the ball over, that is why Bret Favre is the all time leader in interceptions. Now the flip side is a gunslinger will also make some fantastic plays.

You cant have it both ways guys...............if you want no turnovers, you get the bus driver Romo...........if you want the gunslinger, you are going to have to live with the picks.............you cant have it both ways and the coaches have decided the bus driver is better.

It for sure looks like when he broke his ribs.

Tony is a warrior and will play until he dies or they wont let him.

For years, many in our fan base complained when he took chances.

Then, when he stops taking chances, they complain.

No wonder why this fan base, like our team, is the laughingstock of the NFL. Our fan base is equally dumb and pathetic as the team.
Unless your QB doesn't have the skills to get any of it done, which ours doesn't. He's better when he's slinging it all over the place but his arm/accuracy won't allow him too. And his decision making is horrible under pressure. So to conclude, his fans that thinks he has the raw talent to get it done are just plain naive. Did you see the zip on the ball and how fast it came out with Orton or did you turn that mess off like I wish I could've? The difference in arm strength between Orton and Romo is light and day. The only reason Romo was dominant was because of his ability to escape the rush and buy the type of time most QBs usually don't get.

No one cares.

Silly me.
Why should anyone care if Dallas is averaging more points per game than 28 other teams. That is only the absolute bottom line when judging an offense (not stats, for example).
Maybe I'm mistaken and they no longer keep score to see who wins or loses...it's now all about how a team looks.
I must be crazy.

This post is so cool. But you have to read it twice to understand why it is so good.

The last words were priceless! lol

I want the Romo who played against Denver this season. (minus the final two minutes)

Don't we all!

I have a feeling that when his contract was being negotiated, his turnovers from last year were brought up a lot. I know Garrett made a public statement or two on the matter.
I don't want him to be a total gun-slinger, but it would be nice if they turned him lose more. His stats are great and the team is scoring more than it has since 2007, but I do agree that something seems a bit off.

I see what you are seeing. He is not the same Romo.

For what it is worth, here's what I think:

He has lost the want to win! Plain and simple. He has got used to losing, he's numb to it and therefore, he is no longer fighting it. He takes what the defense gives and if they don't give it, he takes the sack or throws the ball away. On to the next play. If the Cowboys win, great. If they don't, equally great - he still get's to go home to his hot wife and play golf in his back yard. Or, at least, that's part of it.

The other part, I believe is coaching. I honestly think Garrett has coached some if not all of the "gunslinger" out of him. The problem with that is if he's not a gunslinger, he is not a very effective quarterback.

Another part of it is his contract. What does he have to play for anymore? If we had a semi-decent defense, he may think he could play to finally win a Super Bowl, but he knows just as well as the rest of us should, they haven't a chance in the world to make it to the Super Bowl with that defense.

The other part of it, is father time catching up to him. He doesn't have the same athleticism to make defensive lineman/linebackers look stupid, like he used to. He doesn't have the same slickness/smoothness.

I'm sure there other factors at work, but the bottomline is, it really looks like the beginning of the end for Romo here in Dallas.

The beginning of the end of Romo in Dallas?

Seriously?

The only problem with this scenario is we just gave him $52 million guaranteed on a new $108 million dollar contract...................do you know what the cap penalty will be if we traded or released him in the offseason?..........Around $40 million roughly

Romo is not going anywhere for a very long, long, long, time. At least 3 to 4 years before we could even think about trading or releasing him without having to gut the roster to absorb the cap penalty.

That is why all of these Romo threads are pointless...........no matter what you think of the guy, the decision has already been made...............its like talking about closing the barn door once the horse is already out..........kinda pointless.

Tony is what he is. A second tier qb who's won nothing. Not all his fault. But that's his legacy.
Like it or not.

He is being too conservative. Not wanting to throw a pick. Oh and playing in a crap scheme.

I hate when tony gets happy feet in the pocket when he thinks he's going to get sacked he puts his head down and starts looking for a soft spot to go down.

Lets face it, he only has about 3 more years playing at a relatively high level. And we won't be able to turn this ship around by then IMO. So I'm already thinking about our qb of the future.
