Now we need a "fiery qb " because that's the way to win !

Eli was "fiery " when he beat Brady twice !
.

This works if you have a team with talent that is not achieving.

This doesn't work when you have a bunch of players in a system they were not drafted for, another bunch of street players who are only on the team because it has no depth, and all of them playing for a head coach with no power and a GM/Owner who cares more about the 'entertainment.'

I guarantee you that you could bring Troy Aikman in his prime on to this team and the defense would still be giving up record yardage totals. Why would they care what Troy has to say? Jerry is the ringmaster of this circus and he signs the checks. Nobody else is worth listening to.

I forgot to mention those aren't my words. I pulled it from a poster on one of the bengals message boards in reference to Dalton and Marvin Lewis. I was willing to bet if I posted it here that nobody would know its not about Romo and Garrett.

*shrug* my reply is no different.

Although I do think its a bit unfair since Dalton took almost no accountability for the horrific game he played yesterday while Romo clearly has in the past.

This thread has went stupid. All QBs stink so that Romo can look better. I will be glad when he retires so that he can take his place right behind Danny White on the Cowboys greatest list. Posters are running down HOF QBs to make Romo look like he belongs in the conversation. Romo is not even top five in the NFL when in his prime. The Romo love has reached new lows.

Actually quite the opposite. If you are paying attention the argument is that HOF QBs don't win all the time, or even close to it. They need a team around them and very, very few have been able to carry a team on their own to a SB. Ask Dan Marino.

No one is saying Tony Romo is Rodgers, Brady or Manning. What we are saying is that throwing away Romo because he is not good enough to do what few QBs ever, ever have and playing on a team run by Jerry Jones is bleeping stupid.

no clearly your not reading the right posts. not saying all qbs stink, we are saying all SB winning qb's have a better defense than tony has had while he's been here

Excellent post. They don't realize that the cinderella story has already played out for Romo. He was an undrafted free agent who put up really good regular season stats and had one magical year back in 2007. None of this was expected from an UFA and Romo defied the odds big time. That is it, story is over... minus him falling completely apart within the next 2 years and our team suffering horribly for that contract.

it sure did feel good beating ufc to a pulp yesterday. look he still wont reply and still has never showed anyone anything other than his 'expert opinion', things like "those 6 qb's are losers and they will never win anything"

am i the only one who feels like saying the same thing over and over and over despite everyone proving you wrong should be a ban-able offense?! talk about useless clutter & intentional instigation... aka troll :D

Not according to Cowbiys fans when talking about Eli. Ask yourself this question? Would you rather have Dalton and one SB, or Tony and no SB? It's purely hypothetical. Neither will win one...

To me you'd always choose the one who at least gets you one. And I get that.

My point is that is honestly all Rodgers has done with his January "legacy". He's had one run. Outside of the one run he's been basically nothing.

That's why I don't get this whole January thing I've seen thrown around about a guy like him. He's a great QB without a doubt whose had one playoff run and the rest of the time has accomplished nothing.

It's not like we're talking about Troy Aikman or Joe Montana who had multiple playoff runs.

So if Eli were to get one more would he be like Montana, Brady, Aikman?

My point is ,
SB runs are all that matters. Regular season stats mean nothing to me..

Well all I can say is I care lots about emmitts record and I'm sure I'm not the only fan that cares that he accumulated over 18k rushing yards throughout his career . I care about stats to and superbowls . Stats do mean something to me , I was emo when he broke the record .

quote="TheSport78, post: 5407444, member: 2597"]Romo had the worst defense in the NFL this year, and the 3rd worst defense statistically in NFL history, and he still put up 31 TD's and 10 INT's.[/quote]

I'm really just talking playing style. If I started with stats Romo would be way out front...similarities transcend stats though. Both talented arms, Dalton now scrambles like Romo used to, and both are either good for a spectacular play or a boneheaded gaf..no In between.

but I still see alot of Romo attributes in Dalton.

Want to know what the Cowboys would look like in the playoffs with a great defense? The Bengals. Romo would do the same choking Dalton did.

The diff being that Romo half more money than Davy Crockett or the Dealy family. Also, Dalton is way younger.

interesting to note, the "one magical year back in 2007" was the only year he has had a def. qb rating under 83 (boys had 75). and once again the avg. def qb rating for sb champs since 2000 is 70! the highest def qb rating that brady/brees/rodgers/peyton have ever won a sb with is 80, with most sb years under 70.

Ask Dan Marino how many of his records he would give back to have one ring. Emmitt is my favorite player in the history of the NFL, but his records mean more because he was also a champion. If not for all the Super Bowls his records wouldn't be as important.

Dalton is way younger and has a bright future. He is not elite, but he is a solid QB. He had s bad game and because of it ,the Romo lovers are using him as some sort of justification to excuse Romo. At this stage of their careers, I would rather have Dalton.

Well, lookie here. Gimme and jnday agree on something.

Like you, I take youth -- and Dalton -- any day, with the expectation of promise and better days that youth holds. Romo, for all his personal stats of brilliance, simply has not been the sparkplug for the Cowboys that Staubach and Aikman half been.
Dalton had one bad game and he is dog meat. Romo half many bad games and he is a savior. I don't understand that logic.
