I think this is no more than an insurance policy, I think Weeden still has to make the team this contract does not lock Dallas in with him. It is a low contract in case Orton chooses to retire if not then those 2 will battle for the backup spot

Put this into perspective, we get rid of players like Demarcus ware and Jason hatcher and sign players that the CLEVELAND BROWNS released ....

Why ke-mo sah-be why?

I actually had to look that up but I like the Lone Ranger too. Reruns!

SF gave up a draft choice for Gabbert. We're on the hook for $75K if we keep Weeden.

Plus we didn't give him a single dollar of bonus money, so we could cut him at any time and not be on the hook for anything.

Now fire Orton into the sun and use the millions of cap savings to help our defense (Melton+).

Weeden's job interview probably went something like this.

Jerry: Hey Brandon, how ya' doin'?
Brandon: Good Jerry. I know I can make an impact for your team and wanted to discuss my play last sea-
Jerry: Wheat or white?
Brandon: Uh... what?
Jerry: Wheat or white?
Brandon: Uh... wheat.
Jerry: Good answer. Here's a check. Welcome to the Dallas Cowboys.

Not horrible. Nothing wrong with a functional QB who is compensated like someone expected to throw the division losing interception, vs 20 million between 2 other options to do the same. Personally, I think Weeden isn't as shabby as other zoners. I've seen him throw the ball well against the Ravens only to be let down by his running game and O-Line in losing efforts.

If you are collecting camp arms, it might be a decent idea to collect camp arms that are better than 50% accurate.

I am not a fan of Weeden at all but the fact we aren't on the hook for much makes sense.

I'll be the maverick and say good. He does have some talent and anyone should get one more look beyond that dumpster fire that was Cleveland.

If he proves he can't develop any more pocket awareness than Chad Hutchinson, just dump him.

Most of all, he should be way cheaper than Orton, and of course we can use any cap space we can scrape up.

Somebody had to Josh Gordon. I'll take it. Plus wasn't he Bryant's QB @ OSU?
