Lewan is the wrong kind of guy for this (or any) organization in my opinion. Too big of an idiot. Zack Martin would be the OL I would be looking at. Replace Doug Free.

I don't think HaSean Clinton-Dix and Calvin Pryor are notable omissions -- we are simply not looking for safeties this year and neither one of those guys is any better than Mark Barron from a year ago.

I saw Lewan interview on NFLN and he did not come across as an idiot at all. I like a nasty OL and was a fan of Colombo until his play deteriorated. I don't have all the info on his background so it would be hard to know for sure - but the Cowboys will have that all taped. The lack of an invite is telling, though.

Jimmie Ward and Lamarcus Joyner are ranch invites so the idea we are not looking at safeties is incorrect.

Be still my beating heart. Best FS in the draft.

But for Lewan, you don't have to not SOUND like an idiot to be an idiot. Or are you just unfamiliar with how big of a POS this guy seems to be from the reports of sexual assault at Michigan, to having multiple police run-ins and charges before he's even made it to draft day?

If he can't act right in Ann Arbor imagine what he would do in DFW? No thanks.

All players take plays off.

If Jernigan WANTS to be here, then I say lets make it so.

lot of players wnat to be here. just because they want, doesn't mean we should. and yes players take plays off or don't go crazy per se, but how many? JJ Watt doesn't take that many plays off. neither does Mohammad Wilkerson, etc.

I have read his motor is on and off. and he gets lazy and loses his technique and gets pushed around. all it takes is 3 or 4 plays a game, give up a couple of big lays and you lose. one or two big plays given up and you are shot. this is the NFL. not college.

I'm familiar with a couple of those - note the sexual assault was by another player, not Lewan. And that he may have gotten into a fight at a club. I think it's being overblown, and apparently so does the league as he is projected a top 10 pick (which may be a big factor on why he was not invited.)

Here is the interview by the way.

I bet there was a lot of crying today when Jernigan found out he was a "1" and not a "3". Tough day. I would not want to put anyone through that anguish.

He's a favorite of mine. He'd be a perfect complement to Melton.

I somewhat agree.

I believe Melton and Jernigan would compliment each other well but I would be more concerned with the cast that surrounds them. They will need some strong rotational guys to add to the mix if they are to have any impact at all.

But they are not telling the whole story. If this is the extent of who we look at and are considering, we may be going the route other teams (i.e. the Saints) are doing that are seemingly "set" at safety. Ryan is even exploring packages with three safeties on the field at once.

The good thing is that they are both far from traditional safeties. Both are good tacklers and strong hitters that can play man in the slot as well.

Jimmie Ward in particular is really in that Vaccaro/Thomas mold of being a center-field type who covers slot WRs man to man (and covers them well).

I would be thrilled. He hits hard, tackles well, and he can actually cover and has the range to do it by himself in a Cover 3 scheme. It would also confirm that Matt Johnson would basically be gone, which is two years too late.

Isn't finding Ware's replacement a little more pressing?

I agree but Clowney is the only sure hot DE in this draft, all others have major holes and may not be right @16.I think its best to trade down and pick the best available DE or DT in the later part of the first rd.

I agree, if I'm going with a DE who may have some holes then wait later and take Jeffcoat. I'm all for adding to DL but not looking to reach on players.

Don't want him. I'd much rather draft a LB like Barr or Mosley.

I honestly think LB is a bigger area of concern than DL. Not to say that it doesn't need to be addressed, but with Lee's impending injury and based on how the revolving door of LBs performed last year, I think it's time to upgrade that position.

So did Montavious Stanley.

Well yeah.

I'm not sold on Jerrigan being that superior a prospect as a #3 technique DT that he warrants being the pick at #16. And if he's not, then spending the 16th on a #1 technique DT doesn't make a lot of sense.

But I guess we'll see.

Barr isn't a 4-3 OLB.

Mosley I'd draft in a heart-beat.
