Jerry Jones: It’s not just optimism, it’s a fact that we’re better

The problem is I have zero confidence Red can keep his finger of the pass button for more than 20 seconds at a time. We've seen it time and time again, even when the running game was working fine.

I think that's why Jerry gave complete control to Linehan on offense.

I could see us being 6-10 and I could see us being 13-3. It simply depends on how our youth develops. A lot of our holes we have on this team can simply be upgraded if guys continue to progress and get better. If Sean Lee gets better, if Demarco gets better, if Dez gets better, if Claiborne gets better, etc. Its a whole new team. If they're as good as they were last year and no progression? Expect another 8-8 or worse season. This upcoming season was never dependent on our free agents or rookie class. Though they can definitely help. But this is the time now where your past drafts can either benefit you or help you.

I feel good about the team but no way do I see 13 wins. 11-5, likely early playoff exit! I'll take it.

I will say this. I'd rather have a young, inexperienced D line that has the potential to be better than what we had last year..which was old and injured guys. Do I expect drastic improvement? No. But fresh legs and sine youth can surprise. Still don't think the draft was as good as last year though.

It's always comforting to hear that from such a successful talent evaluator.

Other teams got better too, so that still moves us back to mediocre. Ever since Owens left and Miles' one hit wonder season faded, we've been just pedestrian. Teams didn't know how to game plan Romo back then, they do now. If only we can play sub .500 teams all season long, we'll have a chance. Other than that, nothing's changed.

I don't buy that narrative at all. What makes more sense to me is that Callahan was the Jerry hire and that after watching us complete 5 yard out ofter 5 yard out on 3rd and 10, Garrett was allowed to get his guy. He and Linehan both worked under Saban whereas Linehan in his stops from Minny to the Lou to the Lions had no connection to the Jones.

That Jones insisted on Callahan fulfilling his contract despite that demotion speaks to that even more clearly.

I'm amazed at the criticism Jones gets for the team(mostly Romo) blowing games in the fourth quarter.

When you have a lead going into the fourth quarter then it is the defense that has to give up scores in order for you to lose. Blaming Romo for the collapses is fun I guess.

Jones is also the one paying romo fat and not drafting his heir because he wants to coddle his 100 million dollar qb and not create a qb controversy.
