Win or lose, America's Team is still, to use Jones' word, relevant. And likely always will be. Jones takes great satisfaction in the Cowboys' entrenched popularity beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, extending to places such as Mexico and Europe. The Cowboys are the only NFL team to market and distribute its own merchandise. The blue-starred jerseys, hats and caps (and a wide selection of women's attire) bring in $250 million annually. After each season, Jones brags that the highest Nielsen-rated games featured the Cowboys, who will play at least five games in prime time this fall. For Jones, the sales and ratings appear to help mitigate the on-the-field mediocrity.

"And if we're not the most popular team," he says, "we're always the most hated team." Is being the most hated team the second-best thing to being the most popular team? "I think I'd trade second-most popular for ... the most hated."

Three hours after sitting down, we finally order salads and T-bone steaks, although not the hubcap-sized $65 Cowboy cuts. As we tuck into our meals, a stunningly beautiful woman in her 40s stops by our table. "You don't remember me," she tells Jones, mentioning a decade-ago meeting, but this doesn't jog Jones' memory. A few more hints, still nothing. She stomps off. Jones shrugs and smiles. Then winks at me.

It's quite interesting to literally get to watch the mental deterioration of Jerry Jones right before our very eyes.

I actually agree with him that we should have taken Manziel, but there's no football basis behind Jerry's reason for wanting to do so. He clearly wanted Manziel strictly for business reasons.

Jerry Jones on ESPN's Outside the Lines: "I don't have plans for Jimmy to be in the Ring of Honor."
Jerry Jones: "You wouldn't want to see the size of the check that I would write if it would for sure get the Dallas Cowboys a Super Bowl."
How would Jerry Jones grade himself as GM of the Dallas Cowboys? "Down the middle. I'd give it a 'C.'"

That story got me drunk on Johnny Walker Blue. Dear Lord. I see a tortured man with Jimmy, etc.

I would say that in the Campo years we weren't getting the attention that Jerry thinks we will get no matter what.

If we keep up this predictable failing trend then nobody is going to care about the Cowboys. I honestly think we've already taken a hit in the entertainment department with the same ole same ole coming from Garrett.

"Let me get this straight," Parcells told Jones. "We got a multibillion-dollar corporation, and we're worried about selling f---ing soda?"
Jerry on accepting AT&T’s $500 mil offer for naming rights to the stadium - "I was a *****!”. That’s a direct quote. #Cowboys

Every day since the draft I have been more grateful we pass on JF. What a circus it would have been.

I honestly think Jerry just says this.

For some reason I think Jerry has a master plan of trying to get Johnny football at some point in his career.

JFB and Jerry may have a behind the scenes agreement about this as well. His rookie contract expires and he won't resign with Cleveland.

Passing on Manziel demonstrates JJ's slow growth away from wildcatting and toward more sound business decisions, a bit less of his personality and a bit more of Steven's, which is I think where we're headed.

I don't like the comment that Jerry made about rather having that one SB with Barry than with Jimmy. I got the impression that Jerry gladly wold have traded 10 SB titles with Jimmy vs just that one with Barry
