Yep. Not sure. Could easily be the top 2 teams per conference and then the best teams from the rest of the pool.

But to determine the best teams from the rest of the pool would have to be based on some sort of ranking system. Plus you have to include the independents somehow whether that be through rankings or forcing them to join conferences.

I've said all along 8 is ideal. Give all 5 power conference champs an automatic pass, and maybe set up some sort of criteria for Notre Dame to get an automatic pass like the BCS used to have. Then pick the rest at-large.

Works for me. 4 just means a team or teams gets shafted.

so the coaches on the committee carried the most weight in the coversations, 2 of the 3 coaches were from the Big 10?

outside of the power 5 and ND, nobody cares....
the conferences, MWC, AAC, will fall in to the wildcard pool...

I agree. I've been hoping that the power 5 just create their own division of college football.

I love college basketball... so the repercussions of other athletics make me not want this to happen... The falling of the Big East, which basketball wise help make ESPN what it is... really, hurt.....

It certainly would be better football if we got to see Miss St versus Arizona State instead of respectively versus Presbyterian and New Mexico St.

Basketball really has next to nothing to do with it.
Football will drives conferences.

Basketball can schedule and play pretty much however it likes.

Once again we disagree my friend.... basketball has always been the step brother. The moves Football makes will always affect them... TV contracts, conference affiliations, Power 5 having the ability to write their own rules, recruiting budgets, etc.... In some way or another it always affects the other athletics at a school.

I think in the future it would help if they flipped the bowl system on its head and conferences made scheduling agreements for the start of the season. If there's 5 power conferences right now, they can each play a matched team from two different conferences. e.g. Big 12 1st-8th vs SEC 1st-8th, allowing the lower teams to quickly schedule some FCS teams to get some wins. Neutral sites/same sites and sponsors as bowl games. Then for the playoffs, the teams get actual home/away except for championship.

So 2015 OOC example schedule among 2014 #1s would be auto scheduled as:
B12: Baylor vs Alabama + Florida State
SEC: Alabama vs Baylor + Oregon
ACC: Florida State vs Ohio State + Baylor
B1G: Ohio State vs Florida State + Oregon
PAC: Oregon vs Alabama + Ohio State

Repeated for 2nd-8th place conference finishers, whoever they are. That should keep the money flowing well enough.

if Bama and FSU win their Semi-Final games, im shutting the TV off on the night of the championship game. nobody dont wanna watch two boring teams play each other in the final.
