I was driving around this afternoon thinking that even if Charles Haley were voted into the NFL Hall of Fame Saturday, the NFL would still find a way to sneak another member of the 1990s Buffalo Bills into the Hall. It was an amusing thought at the time. Ha, ha, ha. After all, Steve Tasker wasn't on the ballot this year. So how could that possibly happen?

I spoke too soon. And yes, they had to create a new special category to do it.

PHOENIX – Former Buffalo Bills General Manager Bill Polian has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2015.

Polian was among eight of 18 finalists elected during a vote Saturday by the 46-member Hall selection committee. He and another former GM, Ron Wolf, were the first inductees from the newly created contributors category.

So Bill Polian AND Marv Levy are in the NFL Hall of Fame. Jimmy Johnson isn't.

And the 1990s Bills still have more players in the Hall of Fame than the Dallas Cowboys teams that crushed them.

Jimmy Johnson will get in eventually, but his temper tantrum with Jerry will hurt him more than it hurts Jerry. Jerry will likely be a first ballot hall of famer. Jimmy's time in Miami degrades his legacy. He was only the coach of the Cowboys for four years, and albeit two of them were Super Bowl years, another coach took that team to the NFC Championship, and a year later to a Super Bowl championship. At the end of the day, Jerry won that argument.

Polian is definitely deserving as well.

Jimmy is going to get in. I think Jerry Jones will get in eventually. And there's an outside shot that Darren Woodson gets in because he's so likeable and a member of the media.

I have no problem with pollian getting in. None. But to declare the bills as the team of the 90's frankly is just comical

It takes a great team to go to 4 straight super bowls, even if they lost every time

They were a great team, but not "great" enough to beat us either time on our way to 3 Super Bowls in the 90's..

What's wrong with THAT picture?

I just don't believe Jimmy belongs in the HOF.
There are still players from the 70s and 90s that should be there.

bill polian is deserving.

Very much so.
  • 4x Bills Clubs that reached the Superbowl.
  • 2x Superbowl teams with the Colts, 1 victory
  • And probably most impressive of all -- taking an NFL expansion team (Panthers) to the NFC Championship game in only it's second year of existence (put the final nail in the 90s Cowboy's coffin along the way)

James Lofton was a member of the Bills, but he basically earned his HoF status before he even joined that team.

if the Buffalo Bills played in the NFC during their run they wouldn't have made it into the Superbowl four straight years. The AFC was no where near as good as the NFC during that time.

Yeah I mean the Cowboys DID win 3 but even they couldn't make the claim of going to 4 straight Super Bowls.

I agree. The Cowboys, 49ers, Packers, Eagles, Giants and Commanders were all better teams during that stretch.
