I don't get the number of fans salivating about the prospects of signing Peterson. That would mean we gaffed off Murray who is younger and home grown. How do you think the rest of the team is going to perceive that? I don't think very favorably. It would be a typical Jerry move from years past. I hope he's still past that kind of reckless behavior and doesn't fall back on his clueless fan like actions of the past.

1. I think most players, especially the younger ones probably see Peterson as a Micheal Jordon type of Super Star player. I don't think they see Murray in that same way.

2. I also depends on the contract. If Peterson gets a bigger contract than Murray, then maybe some players wouldn't understand why they didn't just sign Murray; however, I don't see Peterson getting a huge contract. Only a few teams will be in the market to sign him after his issues and considering his age.

3. This is probably Murray's one and only chance to get a big contract. Peterson on the other hand has made huge amounts of money and is likely eying his legacy. It's possible that he sees the Cowboys offense and OLine as an opportunity to really blow up his career stats and have the possibility of going to a Super Bowl.

Come on AP and Murray are of a different class. Love Murray but AP is a once every ten years type player at his position

He was when he was in his prime. He isn't in his prime any more. Dallas won't be getting the 25, 26 or 27 year old AP. Those are the years when that the vast majority of Hall of Fame running backs are at their best.

For his career. Dallas woukdn't be getting him at the start of his career.

At some point he is going to slow down. I think he has some good play left, but the clock is ticking.

Statistically they aren't that far apart. Now that does depend on if Murray can produce the next few years.

If the money was the same who would you rather have next two years.. Murray coming off last season.. Or AP with a year off...

to me, AP should only be a fall-back option if they can't resign Murray...

Who is the best running back then?

Sure peterson time is running out...but that doesn't mean he still isn't the best right now

I was half kidding about Tony and Witten.;) I just don't see adding age to an aged group as effective. If it's so easy to plug in a back our scouts must really have sucked between Emmitt and Murray. Or should I say since Emmitt. Because Murray is the best since and according to some he's not worth having back. I guess rolling with a freak is the way to go. If he still a freak.

Ummm so Murray did it on his own? average line, average QB, average play caller, average receivers catching and blocking? hmmm. So is Tony an Witten too old or are they just "freaks"?

AP is the best back to play this game since Emmitt and Barry.

Why wouldnt you want to sign a guy who wants to be here?

A year of resting that body, behind this line?

No slight DM who is a very good back but AP is all time

No Murray didn't do it on his own who said he did? We are getting old at key spots why add more age?
Every one keeps saying AP is a different animal. He hasn't been since 2012, that's a fact.

He was on bad Minny teams. People acting like Murray does what he did last year on the regular. Let's not dismiss how much Murray slowed down end of last year and didn't do much in the postseason. I love Murray but AP would cross 2000 yards with this oline. We win in GB with AP. Plus he had a year off but still participated in the off season, its not like he's coming out of retirement

I think you're proceeding from a false assumption.

Why are you assuming that the Cowboys would 'let Murray go'?

What if the Colts offer him $7 million a year? Would you want to pay that or wish him good luck? I know my answer!

A different animal? Check the utube vid below in Nov 2013.
Murray did it (looked "great" in 1 year only) with exceptional support. I believe the supporting cast Murray had last year was better support than anything AP has had in the way of support his (AP) entire career. Just my opinion.
I'm not saying Murray is bad however I just don't believe he's not in the same category as AP.
You seem to think a year out of the league has washed AP all washed up and old. We both have no idea but I would love to find out. And yes if he is washed out, I think DC can find a replacement who is applicable to Murray in the draft or FA without downgrading the offense overall. It's a risk I'm not usually willing to take however, AP is a beast.
I also get the age factor, however we have a very short window with QB play. I say roll the dice.

Unless Peterson fell off just the instant before he was pushed out last season so that no one could see it, he's still the best in the league. And he would easily be an upgrade for Dallas.
