The Walking Dead (S5) - 2nd half of season thread ***Spoilers***

you can only have so many main characters taking the story lines...if you spent time on all of them, it'd be years before you got through barely any story. You need a couple main characters and a couple subs, the rest are just fill ins.

Rick is a main, Daryl and Carol and Michonne are your subs...though it seems they're trying to make michonne the other main.

everyone else is a filler.

i really think next, glen goes and then maggie off's herself...or carol goes and daryl goes on a rampage.

not necessarily true. there are lots of supporting characters where you don't dive deep into the development of the character. to do so does become difficult and time consuming to rethink things as you go for continuity. they seem to be failing at this point and just throwing crap on the wall. they started off working on character development and i loved the story. the character history. how they got where they are today. how they help, and hurt, each other.

the biggest reason i can see they don't spend time on character development is cause someone will get a kill boner and off a character that they spent too much time on.

beth, for example. the scenes with her and daryl lost together were analyzing them as people, their past and their motivations. many didn't like that part of the story but i loved it, albiet a bit slow.

these days it's just regurgitation.

That wall sure didn't seem very strong. The pictures weren't clear enough when he first showed them and it looked like it may be heavily fortified. Now that they're there, it doesn't look like anything a smart car couldn't easily punch a whole in.

Now that you mention it, building support braces on the same side as the force you're trying to repel doesn't seem like a good decision.

Deanna's architect husband...not good at his job.

That was my exact same thought

on that cut, I wondered how tragic that could be to cut a zombie then a friends arm with zombie blood on knife. was waiting for that to turn out bad.

curious because tactic is used later int he comics.

Depending how close they follow the comics and how many more seasons they want to do, personally I think next season will the last. If they follow the comics abe is next, glen, part of me wonders if they will introduce Jesus or try and move Daryl into that role because they have very similar skills. If they bring Morgan back I think he plays a role in the negan war maybe takes the place of the "King" guy in the comics with a pet tiger.

Abraham and Glenn will be the two big ones to go by seasons end.

That's just my gut feeling.

I pretty much feel like the season is going to end with Negan killing Glenn.

Rick seems kinda cynical at this point - suspicious of the politician lady and the hierarchy in place - he is looking for an advantage and seems ready to usurp the current leadership. Yet, I get the felling this would be a good thing for that community. Rick and his 'family' are some battle-tested mofos.

But she's already giving him a leadership position. Not hers but she's basically putting him in position to be a top guy.

not sure what to think of what's going on.

I'd hate for this to be a combo terminus / governor situation. that's just too easy and really takes this nowhere except to say they have freaks in DC also.

as if that was ever in question.

it's calmed down somewhat and rick is *starting* to get into the idea of a normal life, in as much as they can here. even daryl is getting into the guy who gave him a bike. that part made me wonder. is he just lucky that a bike was in the garage ready to be put together? maybe something, maybe not, but it sure got daryl to quit crying like an outsider looking in.

and that scene bothered me cause they've been through too much together for daryl to get his feelings hurt if rick is putting a badge on again. but spider senses going off that this is going to be an issue. again, could be wrong but something seems up there.

overall a meh show. the priest is still MIA but from previews about to get the spotlight. great. 3 shows and nothing. now we're stuck with his whiney arse for at least one of the final 3 shows. if the writers have any pity for me at all, let carl get bit, turn, then eat the priest.

THEN i'll be happy again.

Some little things happened. Sasha is now andrea in the comics at least the "sniper part", the stamp is key because of all the bodies they found with the letters on their head, the one in Alexandria, and all the ones in Richmond. This show or next Abe is done, you can see Maggie is being groomed for "Hilltop". Some of the stuff in this episode while ho hum now will help with the stories later.

I figured they were building. I remember a W on a zombie head and I knew the A had to mean something. now I wonder if this ties into all the "bodies" that were just cut up awhile back.

You guys are probably going to p a lot of people off with the spoilers.

Well then they should be pissed off at themselves for not being able to read the thread title that clearly labels SPOILERS!!!

If they get upset beyond that then it's their own fault.

I don't think Daryl is upset about him taking a badge up again.

I think Daryl is some what disappointed with both Rick and Carol because now that he's finally ready to give this a real shot they're still going to take the guns and keep them hidden. Daryl was ready to not do that and give the place a real chance but was disappointed when Rick didn't follow him on that, when he's followed Rick on pretty much everything.

That said a pretty solid episode where we can see Rick trying to ease into the idea that this will work and that this is what they've been looking for. You can still tell though that he's not ready to believe yet and that he's just waiting for the something bad to happen.

Once again, even more than ever, I left an episode just not being able to stand it until they kill off Sasha. I CAN NOT stand her. I will rejoice so loudly, and probably for a solid two weeks, when they finally kill off her stupid ***.

Those dumb *** facial expressions she's always making, her stupid little attitude toward anything anyone says or does or asks about. I can't stand her at all.

NEWSFLASH! You're not the only person whose lost people in this world jackass. Stop acting like you've had it so much worse than anyone else. Ugh. I can't wait for her death.

This is the first death since Andria that I just absolutely couldn't wait for. Hopefully I don't have to wait 2 seasons for her to be killed like I did with Andria. I wanted her to die from the very last episode of season one until they finally did thankfully kill her off.

I really think that all this weird behavior, or however anyone would want to describe it, between Rick's group and the people here, especially the lead lady, is nothing more then the people there knowing that there is a tyrant out there who they need Rick and his strong people to eventually oppose.

I believe this lady already knows, and has had dealings with, and probably a system in place with Negan that she doesn't care in the least for and she's hoping Rick and his people will all buy into their community, buy into not wanting it taken from them, and that they'll be willing to take care of Negan and that problem for the people of Alexandria who are unable or unwilling to stand against him.

That's just how I feel this is going.

Are we to assume that the husband of Rick's interest is the community doctor? Unless I missed something, I haven't seen how they deal with the sick and dying as of yet.

Maybe not but at the same time you have to cut her some slack, she lost her husband and brother within the last couple of weeks. Now suddenly she is suppose to open up and be mrs sunshine to a bunch of strangers that none of them are sure they can trust.

I dont think that little boy that Carol laid into will be sleeping very much for a while.
