As soon as he is signed, watch Goodell drop the hammer.

No doubt. I feel the main reason Goodell hasn't announced anything yet is he needs to know what teams signs him before deciding the punishment. Heck he might get a year if he signs with the Cowboys. He'll probably get nothing if he were to go to NYG, New England, or the Packers. The NFL really needs to be called out on how uneven they are with how punishment and "justice" is administered.

Lets get this guy signed pleeeease.

Then all we will need is someone that can collapse the middle every now and then.

Just made a post about this in another thread before seeing this... I think this is a smart move. We need to badly address the D-line but there aren't many free agents or rookie prospects that will make an immediate improvement. Outside of Suh, there were no big free agents this year. Guys like Sheard would have been smart low-cost signings, but there's no guarantee they would have been much better than guys like Spencer/Selvie. But Hardy is a guy who can be brought in for cheap and make a huge impact. He reminds me of this year's Melton. A low-risk, high-reward "prove it" deal. We needed edge rushers badly last year. Mincey was solid but he's no superstar, and Lawrence didn't come around until the end of the season. I really like Crawford at DT. We still need some 3-tech depth and possibly a starting 1-tech, but depth is easier to find. We need a starting-caliber edge rusher in the worst way. If we get Hardy, we can go BPA in the 1st round. I really really hope Marcus Peters falls to us. He can be a great CB.

Greg Hardy and Demarcus Lawrence would give Cowboys nasty bookends.

Exciting if it happens.

Thanks evan silva

@evansilva: Greg Hardy & Demarcus Lawrence would give #Cowboys nasty bookends. Think Lawrence is gonna be a star.

Fish said in negotiations which he called and broke live a few mins ago.
I do think this will get done now.

This would be very exciting, Hardy, Lee, Ro, Dlaw (get him going) that pass rush would be top 5 in the NFL if all healthy IMO.

Yes! I like this move for our defense. It's starting to make sense. Acquiring hardy makes us winners in FA.

BTW, I wouldn't trust this from a national source because we saw other teams linked say they were being used but this is inside Dallas and makes sense.

I am excited about this (as many are). If we can get him in here, along with RoMac and then get Lee to stay healthy, we could see a significantly better D to go with our high powered O. I also cannot wait to see how DLaw does after a full year of NFL strength and conditioning. Optimistic? Sure beats being pessimistic (especially at this time of year).

I feel you. I want Hardy and RoMac. We need D-line depth and a starting DE. Hardy is the only guy available via free agency or the draft who can step in and be a starting DE for us. Depth is easier to find. I like the depth singings we made at LB as long as we still add a starting-caliber LB (hopefully RoMac).

Per Fisher.

FOX Sports Dallas' Mike Fisher reports the Cowboys are in negotiations with free agent Greg Hardy.

Fisher isn't a typical Rotoworld source, so we're proceeding with a bit of caution. It's an obvious fit, however. Owner/GM Jerry Jones has never shied away from taking on players with baggage, while Hardy would give the Cowboys' pass rush the spark it desperately needs. If Hardy ends up in Big D, it would quite likely be on a one-year deal. Hard would be a match made in heaven with defensive guru Rod Marinelli.

Sign one more depth DE and the DL goes from a weakness to being at least competent. The biggest challenge is I don't see Hardy, Mincey or Lawrence as a strong side DE really. I'm sure we'd swing Mincey and Lawrence over, but I dunno.

That said, I was very pleasantly surprised by Lawrence's effectiveness against the run, so maybe he can do it. That would be great.
