Read a comment that one of the Jones' mentioned that when our pick came up that there were two players worth our pick that prevented us from trading down

Obviously one player is B. Jones...does anyone know for certain who the other player is?

Obviously Brown and Gregory are the two names that come to mind but has anyone heard for sure who the other player is?

I actually think it was Jones & Randall. They are very similar in that they have versatility at CB and S. Jones probably was rated a little higher.
While M.Brown is probably the better player of the 3, this team, well Marinelli, does not value the 1T.

Would've loved a D Line of Lawrence Crawford Brown Hardy

Oh well... I'm not upset at all with Byron Jones. He's an intriguing player but I would've selected Brown.
Yes, I would have too. But Byron just has something special I think that edges out Brown in my eyes. Would not have been upset with either.

It's hard to be a special player at corner in this league because the rules basically limit you but I will admit he has the upside to be that kind of player.

I just keep thinking of Aaron Rodgers sitting in a clean pocket with no sign of a pass rush coming through the middle.

I knew it would be Jones or Brown; I was hoping for Brown as well.

I hope this guy can cover as well as expected. He will have to if the Cowboys do not add a pass rusher (interior or exterior) later this evening.

I'm sure Gregory was off our board so it has to be Brown.

I don't think so. I think the Cowboys really won't consider a 1 tech in the first round. No matter what anyone thinks about it.

I'm going to guess it was Eric Kendricks.

Exactly right. You can't out cover people in this league. You have to create disruption up front to shut down these offenses. The Jones pick does nothing to change that dynamic.

Unless you're talking about adding extra seconds to our pass rush because of tight coverage. Then I'm listening.

Gregory

He was asked about Gregory.
“We had (Gregory) rated high on our board. But we also, from the get-go, have pinpointed if we could not reach for a player, but if we could find a player with having brought in Hardy. But if we could find a player that could potentially be a corner that, if we get (Morris) Claiborne back like we are anticipating and hopeful that could also be a free safety, and an excellent free safety, then that was the ideal fit as far as the position to draft for us. There was no question, and so we were never tempted to do anything moving around to do anything about any other player up there. Especially the player your talking about there. And then when we were able to get the player that we really wanted at the position that we wanted then that made that a non-consideration to get her done. In other words, we waited on a chance to see if we were going to be able to get this corner/safety.”

We were very interested in McKinnney (LB) from Miss St,,,,seeing him twice in the past 6 weeks. Could it have been him?

Yeah..

Even the Richard Sherman's give up plays because the rules are so 1 sided.

If you want to play Physical Football anymore you have to do it in the trenches.

The passing game has become 7 on 7.

So if you want to impose your will, especially in a scheme as basic as ours, you are not going to do it trying to win your battles covering.

I would be surprised if he was a consideration in the first.

I do as well. We know the Pack took Randall and some folks are saying the Pats liked Jones, so if we traded out of the 1st, we lose both.
