Maurice Jones-Drew: Cowboys DB Byron Jones was by far the worst first-round pick

MJD is a has-been who is currently doing reality television.. I don't put much merit into anything he has to say.

Jones wasn't a projected 2nd or 3rd round pick. He also got hurt last year, so didn't see a lot of playing time and the Big East isn't exactly a pass happy conference. I hate to say it because I hate even mentioning his name, but I would be willing to guess that Paul Pasqualoni, the former Cowboys coach and Jones' coach gave some intell on Jones as well.

He says there is no tape out there on him. Clearly he doesnt have access to the 43 games worth of tape that the coaches do, so who cares what he thinks. MJD is no better than the people on here that have only seen fragmented film of him from the side angle that think they know Byron cant cover.

You don't need to guess. I think it was the PC where Pasqualoni was mentioned.

I agree with MJD's assessment: "When you look at his highlights he’s getting beat, he can’t judge the ball, there are so many different things. Yeah, he’s an athlete, but what is that going to do? At the end of the day, this is football. If you can’t play football, you’ll never be able to play football. I’ve played with some of the greatest athletes, but if they can’t judge the ball in the air, if they can’t understand rout concepts, which I don’t know if he can or cannot."

He high pointed that balls downfield against MI and ECU. He turns to look for the ball and make a play in man coverage. He played the ball really well there.

I have no idea what MJD is seeing

I'm relieved to know that MJD knows more about a CB's NFL potential than Will McClay, Marenilli, Henderson, and so many others.
I sleep better tonight.

That is just code for he hasn't watched him. I am no big fan, but I cannot call him the worst pick of the round.

I think that award goes to Damarious Randall. Usually Ted Thompson is spot on when he takes a DB, but I think he missed this one big time.

He's entitled to that opinion. I like the pick myself and I don't think what he's saying is that unreasonable. Not sure what he means about there being no tape on him. And he was considered by most to be a 1st round.......

In regards to him being the worst draft pick... He may have something with that statement being the guy was the 27th pick in the draft. He was projected to go around there.

He can't even run a fantasy football team correctly. Not sure I give a rats *** what he thinks.
