Nope they guy been clean for the most part. The police wanted to question him before the draft but by accounts he didnt have say so in the matter.

My understanding is the police took their time. They weren't going to rush their questioning just because the draft was approaching. So he was at their mercy.

Not to minimize the girl and baby who were murdered, but this must have seemed like a bizarre nightmare.

Collins' agent, Deryk Gilmore, is definitely earning every penny. Sticking with Collins is probably going to go a long way with future prospects.

Any other outlet saying he's fully in the clear besides these guys?
I haven't seen any yet.

I think he was at the Pelicans playoff game in New Orleans the night she was murdered in Baton Rouge. That's pretty airtight, as a to of people would be able to confirm.
The only other option of guilt would be a hit.

I'll always assume innocent until there's real proof. Same here.

It's part of his own fault too, he could have cleared it up a week before the draft and answered their questions but he was too busy packing for the draft in Chicago and dragged the whole process out...but he's a free agent so he'll get a short deal with more guaranteed money....

should have thrown a seventh round selection at him Jerry....

UDFA contracts are restricted and he didn't want to be drafted after Day 2. You might want to go ona quest for a clue.

I don't see this anywhere else.
No surprise if he is cleared, but none of the major networks are saying this just yet.

This is one news clown putting it out there from what the lawyers said after meeting with police.

I think there are too many other teams that want him that have more cash.

Was this the only issue he had? I thought there was something else. If not...didnt the police state before the draft that he wasnt a suspect?

During the process he alienated some teams with how he responded in meetings.

http://www.klewtv.com/sports/NFL-Free-Agent-Collins-Cleared-as-Suspect---302785881.html

LEWISTON, ID - In a developing story that has become more clear as the days roll on former LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins has been cleared as a suspect in the shooting death of his former girlfriend Brittney Mills.

The surefire first round draft pick's stock plummeted following initial accusations that Collins could be involved in the shooting. The new NFL free agent is able to meet with teams.

Collins' attorney spoke about Collins' interview with police Monday.

"He answered all the questions that they had," said Collins' Attorney Jim Boren. "Every question we didn't claim the fifth we answered every single question we gave them all the information they asked for and he's ready to get his life back."

Just wondering, why are we posting an article from a news station in Lewiston , Idaho? Lewiston is a Podunk town about as close to this story as a town on Mars.

I wonder if playing in between Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick appeals to him...

So is there a "bidding" process?? Or is he just an UDFA with a limit on salary???

dont see him wanting to come here at all. he is gonna want to go somewhere he can get LT money in two years and thats not going to ne here. i would love to have him but don't see him wanting to come here. and even if we got him it would'nt be but for two years. no way you can pay the kind of money we are gonna be payig for oline in a couple years. i don't see how we could keep him but we could get a nice pick for him in two years. but in a couple years we will have tje highest paid oline in the nfl and you just could'nt afford to add another high dollar player there. the big benefit for this team would be the two years you could keep him and the pick you could get for trading him

He's a UDFA and there is a cap on what he gets. Every team that wants him will basically offer him the max UDFA contract and he can pick where he wants to go for a year before hitting the FA market next year without the salary restriction. Sure he lost a few bucks this year, but if he is legit, he'll get his jack next year plus control where he plays. Hard to feel too sorry for him.

That's a fair question. And this really belongs in the NFL Zone but there's enough interest we can leave it here being offseason and post-draft.
