one big edge we have is that everyone knows that Jerruh takes care of his players. He can make it quite clear that he will pay Collins when he can. And players in the league know this. Collins agent knows this.

More news: Former #LSU OL La'el Collins has meeting planned with #Cowboys, is not father of shooting victim's son

Wait... I've read over and over the Cowboys wouldn't have any shot at him, and weren't even interested because he didn't come in for a visit.

Source: Former LSU OL La’el Collins not father of Brenton Mills, has meeting with Cowboys planned

Former LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins was not the father of shooting victim Brittney Mills’ son, a source confirmed to The Advocate on Wednesday.

Collins’ paternity test produced negative results, the source said – another twist in a week-long saga regarding Collins and the death of Mills and her son, Brenton.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Collins went from a sure-fire first-round NFL draft pick to an undrafted free agent after news broke last Tuesday that Baton Rouge police wished to speak with him about Mills, who was pregnant at the time of her shooting on April 24 and who police said Collins had an association.

Collins met with Baton Rouge homicide detectives Monday morning, a meeting that produced no change in his status: He’s not a suspect, police have said from the start. Collins’ attorney, Jim Boren, declined to confirm the news on the paternity test results Wednesday. Police did not immediately return a call for comment.

NFL teams, meanwhile, continue to recruit Collins, one of the most highly sought after rookie free agents in NFL history.

The Dallas Cowboys and Collins have a meeting planed, a source said Wednesday. They are the latest team to come after the former All-SEC tackle who some projected as high as a top-10 round pick in last week’s draft before the Mills news spooked squads.

Things have changed. “Almost every” NFL team has contacted Collins, multiples sources said.

Collins met with Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan on Monday night and former LSU players who now play for the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday. The New England Patriots have contacted Collins, too.

Awesome news! I hope its true. I'd like one of the local Cowboys reporters to confirm.

I would hand him the keys to the starting RT spot and move Free inside to guard and let him battle it out with Leary

Also, it is a good time to come here.......for sure you could set yourself up here for a fat contract after 4 seasons.......who wouldn't want to play on an all-pro line?

Adding Collins will only strengthen an already good offensive line.

Now that's true depth.

People should really understand what he's going to be looking for. The contract will be nearly irrelevant because all tems will be offering near the same thing with only a negligible difference in signing bonus.

Things going for the Cowboys

1. He's said he wants an opportunity to play OT to maximize his 2nd contract. Dallas could potentially offer this as early as this season, but next season as the latest. He would have a good chance to start at OT or OG this year and be a near lock for next. He will essentially be locked up for 4 years which gives him 3 good years to start at RT here. It took Martin playing next to Free for his game to pick up and he's not getting any younger.

2. He's said to be looking for a good, young offense that can compete during the next 3-4 years. Dallas fits this category great. Even though Romo is older, he's got 2-3 good years left and his replacement should have a very good offense to step in to.

3. What other team offers him a chance to play with 3 All-Pro caliber OL under 26? As an added bonus, none of these 3 play the positions he is likely to play as a pro. There is no better place for him to step in and succeed. There's no better place for him to maximize his future value.

4. He gets to play for the Dallas Cowboys. The most iconic team in American sports. This is a huge selling point. As an added bonus, the Cowboys have a long standing history of taking care of their players. Not just in contract terms either.

He may not sign here, and he may decide playing in Miami with old friends is where he wants to be. This should not detract from the fact that this is a very good fit for him from a strictly football standpoint and quite possibly the best fit.
