Beatty is one I could see, but they did just use their 1st rounder on Flowers too and have Pugh set at RT. They would have to juggle quite a few pieces to force Collins in at starting LT this year.

Miami not only paid huge for Brandon Albert at LT, but the drafted their RT of the future last year.

Okung is the LT in Seattle and they drafted their own RT last year too.

I think anyone who would promise him a LT spot would be juggling their line to do it.

Thought they were moving Pugh to guard.

no you are mistaken.

he can be paid between 0 and 88k as a sweetener that DOES NOT come out of his base salary which can't possibly be lowered because it is the minimum already.

he can not have additional incentives in the contract.
instead all rookies operate under a performance based pool and guys like Leary have made a decent check out of that for far exceeding their salary.

I'll defer to a more knowledgeable cap guy on the forum for the final decision.

Cowboys Reportedly 'Roll Out Red Carpet' in Collins Meeting
Thursday, May 7
Chad Sabadie of Fox 8 in New Orleans reported that the Cowboys "rolled out the red carpet" for their meeting with Collins, as owner Jerry Jones hosted the lineman at his house. Sabadie also reported that Romo and the entire Cowboys offensive line was on hand to make their pitch to Collins, and Jones expressed his desire to build "the greatest offensive line ever," according to Sabadie.

On May 7, Ross Dellenger of The Advocate first reported the Cowboys' interest in Collins while Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas added that Jones was "very involved" in the team's interest.

People underestimate the performance of Ron Leary last year. I think Free is more vulnerable to get replaced.

Actually, I think Collins would be a backup for a short time, and injury would pull him into the fold, where he'll stay once he gets there.

You gave a terrible example. and one which has clearly been shown to be terrible. Deal with that.

And yet, here you are, continuing to flop around like a fish out of water, unable to provide anything other than your own opinion.

I'm not 'selling' you anything, what I am doing is refuting your opinions with facts.

Based on what you've provided in this thread thus far, there is a lot that is 'news to you'.

deal with it? does not matter who I throw up there now does it? Miami is another team pushing for him and has mentioned moving Ja'Wuan James to G. Only fact is you want him in Dallas and does not matter what anyone else says. Dallas needs him so bad while all other teams are set at OL? Only news to me is this homer BS you are spewing acting as if Dallas is the only team out there. Fact Collins sure as hell is not playing LT in Dallas claiming all other teams are great at LT? You are right your not selling you just do not make much sense.

Jerry spent big on OL here but they bombed generally. Leonard Davis, Ron Rivera and others.
Big Bill was supposed to be an OL savant but his early OL picks almost universally sucked.

I don't think Jerry devalued OL as much as he saw the team win 5 games a year 3 years in a row when all we had was an OL.

When Jimmy left the only thing we could draft was OL. We flopped on about every other position on the team.

I didn't remember Riverboat Ron ever playing O-Line for the Boys. Did you mean his cousin Marco?

Yes, but he also had a first round grade. If he waited one year he'd make it up in no time With a much higher salary the following year. Why else would he sit out based upon the day he was drafted?

That's not my point. My point is that if he was willing to sit, he wasn't desperate for money today. Meaning he is now not desperate for money today where he would decide where he signs based on it either.

Ok, we know he visited, that's already old news now. How did the meeting go? Has he left Dallas? Who is he visiting next? I am seeing the same recycled news for "insiders" merely using different wording.

I would also say Leary's arrow is pointed up while Free's is down. Now because of Leary's knee condition, I also don't see him ever getting a long term deal here unless it is low on the bonus and guarantees. And a 1st round talent would always have a chance to beat him out.

Exactly. And in Philly, they've drafted Lane Johnson to eventually be the LT. Peters is still playing at a high level so if Collins were to go there, he's either playing OG there for the next to years or he's sitting the bench behind Peters and Johnson at OT. Same wiht Miami.

They said he left Dallas? have not heard who is next. Speculation is Miami.

Wow, Leary and Free were there too? What did they tell Collins? "Hey buddy, you can have my job."

I wonder if the guys he would potentially replace, Free and Leary, were there?

I can picture Free's pitch: "Well, xwalker has been saying on cowboyszone for years that I suck and should be replaced, so you should have no problem beating me out."

(Just messing with you, x)

Adam would undoubtedly agree with me (this once).

This doesn't require expertise however just common sense.

See the numbers for someone like Jeff Heath.... that is the bonus paid and is in ADDITION to the base salary which can not go below minimum if they make the roster.

Dustin Vaughan$510,000$1,666$0$0$0$511,666

that is Vaughan was given 5K bonus and eats 1.66K of that each year PLUS the minimum for that season as cap hit.

a kid from baton rouge isn't going to voluntarily go to an east coast city with high taxes and cold weather.

i agree with @jterrell this is a battle btw us, Miami, possibly ATL if they get involved, and Seattle.

I have a good feeling he'll sign with us, I think us being his first stop says a lot (Though, I guess there could be numerous reasons, but I'm thinking optimistically right now!)
