but he would have made MORE money in the long run

But he's not, is he? He will make the same money over the first 3 years no matter who he signs with.

But in saying he was willing to sit out the year and earn 0 dollars clearly shows that he's not desperate for money today and that won't be the determining factor in where he goes.

still see zero logic from Collin's side in choosing here but good grief would this OL be special if he does. --just not sure what else dallas can sell other than that.

from his view he is a LT and wants LT money in 2 years. we offer 2 years at LG then possibly a move to RT. i HOPE we get him but longshot still imho
we've spent over half our 88k signing bonus pool for UDFA.

i expect some team with the full 88k and a LT spot to dangle gets him but jerry the salesman is near undefeated.

Does any team have the full 88k at this point? I would think most teams have spent a good chunk of that signing bonus money to lure in UDFAs.

I give Jerry and Dallas huge kudos for even getting him in town.
If they win this it is by being better sales people and outrecruiting others.
And I don't discount Jerry as salesperson one iota.
But he's playing versus a stacked deck.

This kid is gonna get 17 checks this year for ~18k each after all the stuff is taken out. That 48k difference in signing bonus is very real.

You forget about the endorsements Jerry will line up for him that maybe other teams can't. 48k is a drop in the bucket.

Well he can't sit out and re-enter the draft or he likely would as he wanted to. I hope he decides to come with a contender and a line that will elevate his play like Dallas.

If we get Collins I guess there's no chance of our O-line being called "Murderers Row"?

Had not heard about the Rams. Wouldn't think they need a LT after drafting the Auburn kid last year.

I agree about bringing him in and trying to sway him, heck I hope he signs with the Cowboys but I think he will find better opportunities elsewhere

According to this he's not scheduled to visit the Cowboys, he already had his visit.

You mentioned Miami and then Philadelphia. And I gave you clear evidence that refuted any possibility where he would be handed a starting LT role with either.

and I gave you clear evidence they are very interested in him. You don't have to agree that is fine but Rex sure as heck made a quick move to bring him in. Philly has Peters as a 12 year vet and a guy who Collins grew up following and based on the overall play of the philly OL I think they are far from set. I agree he will have to earn the LT role no matter where he goes but beating out Tyron Smith is a lot harder than a lot of places in the NFL.

if they brought a package of that to the meeting that would be very smart business recruiting.

again he was expecting to have cash secured right now and only in the last week or so found out he was unemployed with no huge contract.

Why do I have a feeling he will sign with the Giants?
I wonder what draw a NY team would have for a Baton Rouge kid.

LT Will Beatty 09/2 Marshall Newhouse U/Cin
RT Justin Pugh 13/1 Ereck Flowers 15/1 Brandon Mosely 12/4

I do not know what each team stands at, but the teams with the full amount would have a big advantage.

Dallas has used the majority of it's allotment. I can not find a collated list just reports on various teams at a specific time.

Decent article on decision facing Collins.

I will correct the numerous errors here.

You mentioned both Miami and Philadelphia. I then showed you exactly why Collins would not be handed the starting LT role in either place as you had suggested.

As for Rex, he coaches in Buffalo, not Miami, nor Philadelphia. And he didn't 'bring him in' at all, but met him for dinner in Louisiana. Ryan went to him, not the other way around.

And Peters is under contract through 2019. Your contention of being handed the starting LT role doesn't work in either of those places, or much anywhere else. And that is the one point I am refuting.

The funny thing about this is Jerry is known for style over substance. This OL he's trying to build is pure meat and potatoes. I applaud the effort he's making to keep his QB upright.

He might be growing up.

No your right no one in the NFL needs a LT except for Dallas, we are hurting so badly on the OL where everyone else is in great shape.
