Are you kidding? Don't you know how miserable this announcement will make some people???!? They can't whine about how much the league office hates Dallas and how unfair it was they had to wait so long and that Brady got his appeal settled first, etc etc!!

There is a large contingent in this forum who are only happy when they have something to complain about!!! :D

The league only did this so Dallas has to pay Hardy more money than it would of. How's that?

I don't know how this works. So if he decides to appeal and the appeal loses, could he get 10 games again? If so, I wouldn't risk it. 4 games isn't bad.

I don't think that's how it works.

He would be appealing the 4 game suspension. The 10 game suspension is gone.

Since there is already a Contempt of Court motion filed by the NFLPA against the League, this could be added to that case without any further argument. Did the NFL use the old or new guidelines and did they follow the "laws of the shop"?

When they can't even bring charges, you are innocent.

You could argue that being found Not Guilty is not the same as innocent.

No your not. I'm guilty of a lot of things in my younger years that people are serving time for. I just didn't get caught. I've had charges dropped against me for something I did but not enough evidence to go forward.

It's not what you know, it's what you can prove

Regardless of if you think he should fight it shouldn't fight and for whatever reasons, if he doesn't fight it, he could be setting a negative precedent for other players.

This is what pisses me off about the NFL. In legal terms, you are innocent until proven guilty, but with Goodell and his cronies, you are guilty even after proven innocent or the charges are dismissed.

YOu said it, Goodell comes with a mob and a rope.

I don't see why anyone would think Hardy would accept this, there is very little down side to fighting this. For starters, if you are worried about him being suspended for 4 more meaningful games in say December or god for bid the playoffs, you can ask for an expedited hearing due to the close proximity of the beginning of the season. If it is not granted, all he has to do is look at the trial date, if it is September 25th or so, he doesn't have to file for an injunction barring the NFL from suspending him until the process is done because at most he will miss 2 games. If the trial is March 5th, then no matter what, and injunction won't hurt since we'd be talking about next season at the earliest he can be suspended.

Hardy has nothing to lose by appealing the four-game suspension in hopes of reducing it to perhaps two. It also makes Goodell does look pretty foolish for assessing Hardy's penalty to a seriously overzealous 10 games. This is especially so in view of the fact that it was one of his own partners that rendered the lighter penalty. You've got to believe it was likely extremely difficult convincing Goodell to go along with the seriously lesser punishment. It might at least partly explain why it took as long as it did to arrive at a decision.
