Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant told Rolling Stone magazine that it was owner Jerry Jones who originally tipped him off that there might be a damning video of him.

“The first time I heard that was from Mr. Jones last season: He said there was a tape of me that might get out,” says Bryant. He’d scoffed at Jones, saying that no such thing existed.

Earlier this year, national reporters set the sports world ablaze with rumors of a video of Bryant in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Rolling Stone asked former Bryant adviser David Wells if he had leaked the story, either to the Joneses or to the media. He denied it, saying that if Bryant thought so, then so be it. “But have you seen the police report? Have you heard the 911 call? Something happened in that parking lot, and I didn’t drum it up!”

David Wells comes off as petty and shady in this part of the article. Hope this doesn't get messy. Sounds like he was saying if you try to sue me for your money I'll take you down with me.

That really is pretty low class to throw that in re Irvin, knowing it will go in a national article. How exactly is it different than what Randle said to police?

I imagine he's referencing young Michael Irvin. But, yea, this article seems like it's gonna stir some you know what.

I'm pretty angry at him taking a shot at Playmaker like that. Playmaker's my man. It wasn't necessary.

Memo to Dez...that's right. You're not Michael Irvin. He has 3 rings. Call us back in a few years OK, buddy?

I thought he and Irvin were close.

But yeah...this confirms suspicions that wells is shady

I've had some dealings with companies and people like Wells. Generally, my experience is that when you have all of these accounts, different business names posed as different business when they are the same company, etc...the more suspect the person (or company's) finances.

Tim Green once said that you should make sure that you hire accountants, business managers, etc. that don't know each other. That way it serves as a system of checks and balances to make sure somebody isn't robbing the player. It appears that Dez did just that and they started to point out how much money Wells was costing him and how they couldn't account for a lot of money.

I honestly don't think he meant anything by it, Dez isn't always great with words. He probably just meant he won't get into the stuff mike was getting in with the Cowboys. I'm sure Irvin wont think anything of it. Irvin knows he was getting into some **** when he was with the Cowboys. I bet they've already even talked about it and it's no biggie

I'd read the whole thing before passing judgement. I haven't read it yet but RS sometimes delivers very good investigative journalism

That's true, but probably not the greatest idea to give what will be taken as a shot at Irvin to a national article, even if he was just relaying a part of a private conversation.

Nobody needs to sugar coat Irvin's record.

He is a big boy and knows what he did.

At least he isn't Lawrence Taylor.

People like Wells? Whatever could you mean by that?

I'm willing to bet that jerry may have used Michael as an example of why he was concerned about Dez's behavior and Dez responded in no Michael Irvin. Can I prove it...no. is it just a hunch. ...yes. but I believe it was probably in that type of context that Dez said it.

That could be the case. It would make more sense than him just randomly throwing Irvin into the conversation.
