I'm willing to bet that jerry may have used Michael as an example of why he was concerned about Dez's behavior and Dez responded in no Michael Irvin. Can I prove it...no. is it just a hunch. ...yes. but I believe it was probably in that type of context that Dez said it.

You beat me to it.

That could be the case. It would make more sense than him just randomly throwing Irvin into the conversation.

I agree....Dez and Mike's relationship is too tight for him to throw him under the bus in a national publication for no reason.

It's nice to see that what I suspected about Wells turns out to be true. What a lying scumbag.

Wells told Rolling Stone that he had spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars” on Bryant and his family; let him live rent-free the first three years he was in Dallas; paid at least part of Bryant’s jewelry debts, a total sum of nearly $1 million; created lucrative deals for him with Air Jordan and BioSteel – and never received “a dime back for any of that from Dez.”

However, Bryant’s tax adviser John Karls told the magazine a vastly different story. He claims there was a bank account set up under the name “David Wells c/o Dez Bryant” that Dez couldn’t touch, and it received $75,000 in wires from the deal with BioSteel. Additionally, Karls says, electronic payments were made out of Bryant’s accounts for mortgage and monthly bills with Wells’ name in the transaction description during 2010-13, the same time Wells says Bryant was living rent-free at his house. As for the nearly $1 million jewelry debt? Bryant took a bank loan from Chambers Bank to pay that. Presented with these facts, Wells responds: “If Roc Nation wants to bring charges, they’re welcome to. But they better be aware of everything that’s out there, ’cause I’m gonna be able to depose Dez Bryant – and I know things that they don’t.”

Hopefully the Cowboys sever any ties they've had with this guy(though I'm not sure how deep those ever ran) and advise players to do the same. This guy is a mini Don King wannabe. I see why Dez was so upset with him now.

Wow I didn't realize Wells was such a scumbag...

It's obvious wells planted the story of the Walmart tape when Dez caught on to him for stealing his money. Wells then tried to create a rift between Dez and the Cowboys by creating these concerns over people living at Dez's house. It sounds like Wells knew his gig was up and Dez was on to him so he acted in desperation to try to paint Dez in a bad light to force himself into Dez's accounts for another contract.

Then the threat about bringing down Dez if Roc Nation comes after him...wow...his words are words of a guilty man. I hope they come after him. It sounds like most of Jerrys concern was created by Wells.

I agree. People have selective memory about Michael Irvin's off-field stuff back in the '90s. For all the gripe with Dez early on, because even tho his news stuff was minor, it was ALWAYS something. Michael Irvin's my guy, but his stuff back then was on a whole 'nother level.

I don't think Dez was taking a shot at Mike, more like reminding Jerry to keep it all in perspective.

...and then there's the stereotypes my man has to fight every day.

I hope that's true. I already don't like Jerry, so that's no big loss. I'd be really disappointed if I thought Dez just randomly threw Michael under the bus as someone else said. Michael has always spoken highly of Dez, at least every time I've heard him speak of Dez, he has. That would be the ultimate slap in the face...yes, I'm a Michael Irvin apologist. I love the man and what he did for our team...his talent and his energy. I'm not "sugar-coating" his off-the-field behavior (also previously mentioned) but it gets so tiresome hearing that all the time, and it just wouldn't have been necessary to bring that up here.

If there is "way more to the story" than people think and Jay Glazer knows then why not report it? Another reporter trying to slander someone without having to be accountable for his words. These reporters are out of control.

Exactly. Break the story - you'd be the hottest reporter on the block.

Unless of course your sources smell like a public restroom.

I agree but it sounds like Jerry always used Irvin's troubles to justify to Dez why he was being treated like a child. Without context the quote doesn't mean much. Giving Dez the benefit of the doubt he has earned makes me assume him telling Jerry this was in response to Jerry using Irvin as an example.

Would prefer it not being used a headline grabbing though. I'm sure Dez will talk to Irvin and clear up why and how it was said.
