Is it out of the question that Escobar turns into a poor man's Gronk?

To hope that G. Escobar turns into a poor mans Gronk

I don't think Escobar has Gronkowski's power, heck I don't think he has his speed either.

Escobar isn't the beast Gronk is and as long as Witten is here he may end up less productive than Marty B during his tenure with the Cowboys. Up to this point he's been another wasted #2 pick. Could have had Eddie Lacy or Bell with that pick.

It's pretty unlikely he will ever be the featured target like Gronk is used in NE. Way to far down the food chain.

Those still calling him a wasted pick remember this - he is playing behind an iron man. If something would have happened to JWit and he was down a few games we would be thrilled Escobar is on the roster.

Big dog I can hear Mick on talking cowboys now saying you can't have an all pro at every position I was just wondering out loud

But if we took bell or lacy would we have an offense of fretting over how we were going tonreplace Murray?

If the answer is no

Then the team made the right selection with Escobar

Agree. Why did the Steelers refuse to double him?

I would settle for single coverage, but he should be doubled. Brady doesn't throw deep anymore. Bring your safeties up and chuck him with the DEs and LBs.

I wanted Giovanni Bernard

The fact he's playing behind an iron man who has plenty of years left is why he's been a wasted pick and will likely continue to be a wasted pick. If you're not getting much out of a #2 pick then it's a wasted pick. The Cowboys repeated the same mistake with Escobar that they did with Fasano and Marty B. Unless Witten or Beasley goes down he's going to continue not receiving much of an opportunity. Gronk was a #2 pick that was given an opportunity because NE needed a starting TE. Part of why Witten became a productive player is the opportunity he was given due to the Cowboys needing a starting TE. Once Escobar's contract is up he'll be gone because some team will need a starting TE and will give him an opportunity like Chicago gave Marty B. It's ridiculous to take a player with a #2 pick when you already have a firmly established player at the position.

I think, given the right opportunity, Escobar can be in the discussion of brightest young TEs in the league. He's unlikely to get that number of opportunities in Dallas this year, though.
