News: Brice Butler to Dallas

Any news as to who gets cut to make room for Butler? I'm thinking they put Dez on injured reserve-designated for return; which (I think) sidelines him for six weeks minimum???

I wanna say this guy had a couple catches in a pre season game against the Cowboys either last year or the year before.

Butler is an intriguing size/speed prospect at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds with 4.37 wheels. Scouts and beat writers have raved about his potential on the practice field.
"Brice Butler jumps off the tape," Browns coach Mike Pettine said prior to an October matchup last season. "I know he doesn't get a ton of touches, but when he does, he's a major threat."
For all that promise, why has Butler been buried by two different coaching staffs in Oakland?
Bay Area News Group's Jerry McDonald suggested during the offseason that he has simply made too many mental errors.
If that's the knock on Butler, it's fair to wonder if he will be up to speed on Scott Linehan's playbook in time to make a dramatic impact before Bryant returns to game action.

Mills and Weems cut, Brown and Butler added.

So do you guys think he will be on the active roster against the Eagles? Or do we let him learn the playbook first?

Sounds like a guy to replace Street not so much Dez....

that's what I was thinking also long term. Roster competition. This guy has 2 redeeming qualities.......deep speed, with pretty darn good size, wonder what his vertical and shuttle numbers are as one looks at comeback and back shoulder throws.

Butler brings speed we need on offense. Considering that Street brings almost nothing to the table, I'm excited to see what Butler can do given the opportunity.

Found this for you from pre-season 2013 vs Dallas

THE BUTLER DID IT: The Raiders have few proven receivers, giving an opportunity to some young players to shine. Seventh-round pick Brice Butler stepped up in his first NFL action, with an impressive 40-yard catch-and-run followed by a diving 30-yard touchdown catch from undrafted rookie Matt McGloin in the third quarter.

"I am 23-years old and I have been waiting on that moment my whole life," Butler said.

Because someone down the dept chart might flash something given the chance.

Who pissed in your cornflakes? Did this throw your mock draft off for next year? Go mock draft!

So it's a definite good thing because someone down the depth chart might flash.

And this is clearly better in our moment of immediate need than making a run at Reggie Wayne.

I'm just pointing out the complete nonsense most fans talk on their team.

Weems got cut. CBrown replaced Mills. So we had one spot open.

He's got one other redeeming quality. He's not Street. LOL.
