I really wish the whiners and nay-sayers would give it a rest.

There really was no excellent solution to this situation. Without Tony Romo, it doesn't really matter if we have Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel, or if they had signed Christian Ponder or Matt Flynn. Everyone on that list besides Romo is a mediocre backup, and we would have had to cross our fingers and hope for the best with any one of them. Even with Romo, we were hobbled without Dez. But I don't really see how signing Cassel was any worse of a move than signing Ponder would have been (I've never been impressed with Ponder.) The main thing to remember is we were in a desperate situation...there was no excellent solution to this situation. But at least it's been addressed, and Weeden will have a backup on Sunday.

Our front office is fully focused on getting to the big dance THIS YEAR! Their actions speak volumes. What's not to love? Do I need to start singing cum bah jah?

Can't find your Beuerlein 2.0 post but that is an excellent comparison.

The Matt Flynn support confuses me. He barely got that Packer team through the Rodgers collarbone injury.

He played in 5 games that year for the Packers, one tie and two wins, lost two others. They had a shot at the playoffs when Rodgers came back, he did his job.

We're rolling with Weeden. This move is just about if Weeden gets hurt.

Weeden took the most training camp snaps of all the QB's and he's been being coached by these guys for going on two years now. He knows the Dallas system and understands what the team wants out of him.

He can win some games. He would be better than anyone the team could bring in as this point.

There shouldn't be this much board angst about a guy who cost us very little and will probably never even see the field because he is just some cheap insurance.

The team is now just about where there were 24 hours ago... that is Weeden's team.

Neither could Bradford or Davis. It's the Rams.

Just like with Jon Kitna, there's a reason he's been in this league since 2002 while never being a starter. He's a true backup. 4 years with the Vikings, 4 years with San Fran, 4 years with the Lions, and now back with the Vikings.

Matt Flynn started when Aaron Rodgers went down in 2013, and beat us along with playing well in every other game that season as well. His win against us and Atlanta gave Green Bay a shot to make playoffs when Rodgers came back against the Bears. Which is what you want out of a backup.

What games were you watching? Flynn was horrible. Yes he torched us in the second half of our game, but that was an all time awful Cowboys defense. Not impressed. That got destroyed by Detroit on Thanksgiving. Couldn't beat a mediocre Pittsburgh team. Lost to the Bears. Only beat them when Rodgers returned. If he doesn't they don't make the playoffs.

I'll take the guy who's actually been to the playoffs and was the full time starter.

If you add up those ratings the collective score still sucks. Crazy.

I think those are total QBR not passer rating. While they "still suck"...a 35-40 total QBR would put you with derek carr, brian hoyer and geno smith last year...so far through 2 games this year that would put you with peyton manning and drew brees.

This isn't just about if Weeden gets hurt. They went out and got a proven veteran quarterback who's made a Pro Bowl before. Won a lot of games. Made the playoffs. This is a team still trying to win a championship. Weeden has a short leash. If he struggles Cassell will step in for him. Whichever one of them can play mistake free football is who we'll stick with.

Weeden will ride the pine if he stinks it up and Cassell will come right in.

We got us a bus driver who, if needed, can settle the team down in the right lane and go a nice, steady 55 mph until Tony gets back and puts the peddle to the metal.
