Deadskins in 2012 started out 3-6 and won 7 games in a row to win the NFCE.
If the defense keeps playing well , we have a chance to do the same when Dez and Romo get back.

I am confused with the OP .. "if we end up with 5 or 6 wins"

Do you mean at the end of the season? If yes, then why are we at the end of the season and Romo and Dez are not playing?????

Or do you mean before thanksgiving game? if yes, then it means we are 5-4 or 6-3 and in either case is way better than anyone expected we would be by thanksgiving w/o Dez and Romo ..

Really confusing post

SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION

lets say Dallas end up with 5 or 6 wins

I think Jerry has pretty much laid the ground work

http://www.***BANNED-URL***/sports/...-might-be-too-late-to-save-cowboys-season.ece

The 2-3 Cowboys could get Bryant back for their next game, Oct. 25 against the New York Giants. Romo won't return until at least Nov. 22 against the Miami Dolphins.

those are big ifs an buts

like Don Meredith once said, "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas

myself I would sit them both out for the season let the really heal ESP DEZ

go with Cassell and whom ever at WR

last year teams with

5 wins Chicago picked 7 th
6 wins Atlanta picked 8 th
6 wins Giants picked 9 th
6 win Rams the picked 10

it would put us in the range of getting some good players

I am not condoning this just a hypothetical question

Dallas possible mocks with possible trades - I am no expert on the trades so take this tongue in cheek

plus I do not know how many picks we have to trade

What would you do ?

we got two weeks to discuss this so be civil

pick it apart or help it out some

based on CBS

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2016/all

three scenarios

1 Jared Goff, QB, California - trade up to get him
2 Denontae Book,.RB, Utah
3 Ricky Seals-Jones, WR, Texas A&M or Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers
4 Cyrus Jones. CB, Ala
5 Kevin Byrd, S, Middle Tennessee

1 Jalen Ramsey, S/CB, Florida State - Trade up to get him
2 Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State - Trade up if needed
3 Kenneth Dixon, RB, Louisiana Tech or Kenyan Drake, RB, Ala
4 Mekale McKay, WR, Cincinati
5 Kevin Byrd, S, Middle Tennessee

1 Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
2 Hunter Henry, TE, Ark or Vonn Bell, S, Ohio St
3 Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
4 Mekale McKay, WR, Cincinati
5 Kevin Byrd, S, Middle Tennessee

I must admit: For the health of the team AND for high drafts picks its always good to sit players out the whole season.

It's an interesting and new approach to the game.

I'd say why not rest the whole team ?
Your team would always be healthy and we could pick 1st every season.

That would give us a chance to be a real contender every ...... wait.
Hmmmm.... Did i made a logical mistake here ?

IDK. I can't .... Give me a sec please ....

If you were paying them with your money, would you pay them?
If you were them, and could get incentives, would you be upset if you weren't able to make that money?
Football players aren't like money where you can save them for a rainy day. I understand why you would want to think that way but it's just unrealistic to do to a player with a short window in the NFL.

There's been many of these tank the season threads over the years and as always it ain't going to happen no matter how much those fans with loser mentalities want it so. What's wrong with people today who give up at the drop of a hat? It's a sad commentary of this generation of quitters.

I get what your saying and it's the bye so we are bored. But you can't say we are only going to have 5 or 6 wins so let's rest them. Because you won't know until we play the games. Now that being said if we are 2-7 and 4 games back hell I'd consider it. Fortunately we won't be.. have a little faith. The defense will be tough and Cassel is going to be a big help as well as playing a rb that has a little power.

you play to win the game. Besides, we can get Vad Lee as a free agent anyway next year.

It ain't over till it's over. If we get eliminated from the playoffs then I wouldn't play anybody that isn't completely healthy.

Some guys play thru stuff because we are still contending but if there's nothing to play for then it's a waste, at that point I say let them heal and even then I probably might not want to play a guy if his level of play is affecting the win...

No way. This is a year-to-year league. Romo and Witten have limited opportunities left, so you have to take advantage of EVERY chance you have.

Next year will bring more injuries. Players have to be re-signed. Hardy may be gone. McClain is iffy. Carr and Claiborne will need to be replaced potentially. Etc.

The NFL is a now league.

And drafted QBs almost ALWAYS bust.

If drafted QBs almost always BUST, then where are they getting the QBs that are leading their teams to the playoffs/superbowl?

Hell Brady was drafted!!!

The truth is that there is a higher risk of drafting a bust when taking a QB over other positions, but with that being said with notable exceptions (and that’s why they call them exceptions) the majority of teams that end up playing in the playoffs will be led by QBs drafted in rounds one or two.

If by the time Romo comes back there is no way the Boys make the playoffs then I for one would consider tanking the season if it meant we had a bonafide shot at a viable replacement for Romo coz we’ve seen what this team will be like without a suitable replacement.

I am not condoning the tanking of season - why don't you people understand that

probably because you're not making any sense. at least to me yet.

if we end up with 5 or 6 wins, the season is over, they all sit. are you talking about NEXT year also? retroactively sit them THIS year?

somewhere along the way in my life i got mired in logic and i've just not seen it yet in here but hey, could be me also.

Moderator's edit: If Dallas end up with 5 or 6 wins, should we sit Dez and Romo?

It's the same thing.

my topic WAS A hypothetical Question

NOT sit Dez and Romo?

THAT WAS ADDED BY A MOD

THEN I PUT THE Q TO YOU GUYS

Lets say Dallas end up with 5 or 6 wins

I understand the question, but you should have asked it differently. I think that's something you consider the moment the Cowboys slide to 8 losses and there is a clear and definitive leader in the East. In other words, once the Cowboys are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, then yes I would consider sitting Romo. Dez not so much, but Romo only has a few years, maybe 3 left in him, in my opinion.
