News: Cowboys waive Brandon Weeden

Maybe because the "decision" was already made long ago ...

That was a no brainer, as soon as Romo was eligible to return and with the trade for Cassel, you knew his days were numbered

We won't have Brandon Weeden's lovely balls to kick around anymore.

I feel for the guy. But then I feel for anybody who seems like a good person who just wanted to work hard and be good at something really really difficult and who just wasn't good enough at it.

Exactly, I.ll never understand the joy people seem to get out of cutting someone that by all accounts was a good guy and teammate, but just couldn't make it. Randle, ok, I get.

OK, so I made a comment in the thread yesterday about Keith Smith being waived. People were saying it was for Romo coming back, and I said what if it was for Chaz Green to be bought off I.R. and Weeden would be cut for Romo.
So got it half right so far, what do we think the open roster spot is for now ?
Green, or are we trading away another pick for someone else - corner maybe ?

Won't be a trade, believe that the deadline passed for that option. It's a good question though, I was wondering the same thing.

while the Texans brought in TJ Yates 3 weeks ago, and last night was forced into action and defeated the undefeated Bengals.

Yates was drafted by Houston and was in their system for three years before being cut and brought back. He knew their system pretty well. That said, I understand your point.

Mark Nzeocha says hi.

What an indictment of the talent evaluators in this organization that our backup was so quickly supplanted by a sub-par journeyman who arrived only weeks before.

Well, somebody, somewhere, at one time thought this dude could play.

wrong, he hasn't been with them under O'Brien. He was with them under the Kubiak system.

Much less one we spent an entire offseason talking about how improved he was.

"I think he's probably the most improved player. He has a greater understanding of the concepts, the protections, calling the plays, all those kinds of things. He's made a big jump this year.
His confidence and his demeanor, his complete understanding and grasping exactly where he's supposed to go with the ball, handling blitzes and things like that, he's been very improved." - Wade Wilson

I guess Wade Wilson needs to go, too.

Between Garrett and Wade Wilson you would think we would have a considered opinion on QBs good or bad.

It says a lot about Garrett (former QB) that you are content to keep Weeden around, not draft a QB etc. ...

It's like when Cuban says - too many teams fail drafting a championship team so you should trade picks for veterans. ... Cowboys think you shouldn't draft a QB because so many QBs fail.

The logic is flawed: it should read - if you want to win a championship you should be good at drafting, therefore we should draft a QB.
