Anyone know the salary cap implications with his release? I didn't catch in the thread if someone posted

Cassel is much better than Weeden. Give Cassel the same amount of time Weeden had here in this system, the results would have been different.
Anyone that knows a little of football, knows this, but the just fan people, or the want to always have something to bash Jerry, Garrett etc people they do not know and mostly likely will never know.

But it I what it is, so he was not able to guide us to a win, in his short time here, ok. Now he is here for the foreseeable future, since we may not draft a QB again in this draft Cassel is the backup for next season and if Romo goes down, (hopefully he will not) Cassell will be better equipped to hold it down until he comes back.

Weedens been here a couple seasons. Cassell has been here a couple weeks.

True and I'm not defending Weeden but Cassel sometimes made throws that made you want to shake your head (ex. that "punt int."). But, it's the coaches job to get the best out of them and I don't think they did that for either one.

Much less one we spent an entire offseason talking about how improved he was.

"I think he's probably the most improved player. He has a greater understanding of the concepts, the protections, calling the plays, all those kinds of things. He's made a big jump this year.
His confidence and his demeanor, his complete understanding and grasping exactly where he's supposed to go with the ball, handling blitzes and things like that, he's been very improved." - Wade Wilson

Send Wade with him...lol

Farewell legend of Weeden. I will miss his ugly mug on the sideline. Can we get him a job as the gatorade guy?

Thanks for your service.

Best of luck.

Hopefully a division rival signs you.

He should sign with the Eagles, he is perfect for "The Genious" offense. Then again, everyone that goes there is perfect for that system and will flourish. Smh

Getting kind of tired of deleting multiple off topic posts, by the way. We should be able to talk about releasing Weeden without trying to twist the topic of this particular thread.

Yeah, that has to suck. By the way, the temperature will be cold in my home town of Crockett, Tx tonight and that new fishing rod I ordered from Walmart just arrived. Oh, and my collard greens are coming in real nice this year. Giggle giggle...

You beat me to it. Can we get to the real crux of this issue..who decided he was a top backup? JG was a QB coach and everyone says he was handling personnel to build his own team...that's why the process took 4 years. Yet a guy, who just 7 weeks ago, was being praised because of a "great arm" and "he's been in the system 2 years and its the first time he's worked with one coach for 2 years straight" is now gone. Great evaluation fellas. You have my trust. Derek Carr > DeMarcus Lawrence

...and you stayed at a Holliday Inn last night also, right?

Weeden could have lost the last 4 games like Cassel ... for a lot less money, and no draft picks.
