Well, he didn't work out..but I still feel bad for him. From everything I heard and read, I get the idea he was a perfect teammate that showed up every day and worked hard. Unfortunately, he either doesn't have NFL ability or was a bad fit in Dallas.

I was mad with his putrid play like everyone else, but still I feel bad for the man today. Best of luck Brandon Weeden.

Can we also get Albert Breer back here. He was the only legitimate media guy we had during his brief stint covering the Cowboys... totally devoid of drama and personal agenda....

I liked Breer, too. However, I definitely put Sturm in the category of being legit (and knowledgeable).

Oh yeah, Sturm is legit, but does Sturm really report, outside doing blogs and analysis? I'm not in that area, so I wouldn't know. Breer was technically working for mainstream media even then...

Breer and Sturm took different angles. Both had/have excellent X's and O's knowledge, but Breer covered the team from a wider perspective than Sturm does. I get your point about Sturm as a "reporter", but he does produce some good stuff every week, IMO.

Well, he co-hosts a radio show on The Ticket. So I guess that puts him the category of local media. Plus, writing for the DMN whether that be blogs or articles these days.

What an indictment of the talent evaluators in this organization that our backup was so quickly supplanted by a sub-par journeyman who arrived only weeks before.

They certainly overestimated their ability to coach up Weeden.

But I think everyone considered Cassel the better player--in an out of Valley Ranch--even before the season.
They just saw Weeden as inexpensive and young (experience-wise) to point that they thought he had upside. But not better than Cassel.

Have you read his Tweets? He is not afraid to drop his opinion either.

Haven't followed him in awhile? Anything insightful as of late? I remember he use to point out the flaws in Garrett's offense when he was here.

Weeden - Had lead against Falcons and Saints and lost. Didn't have Dez.

Cassel - Had lead in every game he started and lost, had Dez for 3 games, defense gave him two good games but he couldn't produce one touchdown, threw two pick 6s.

Cassel maybe the better qb, but you wouldn't know the difference most of the time between the two when they were starting for the Dallas Cowboys.

Weedens been here a couple seasons. Cassell has been here a couple weeks.
