Why is everyone so sure the Cowboys are going to take a QB with the first pick? I doubt they do it.

1. We have a need.
2. The opportunity to draft a franchise QB for a team that actually has a talented roster is rare.
3. Romo can still play a couple of years, so the timing is good to bring in a guy and have him sit, learn etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct and we don't take one with the first pick. I think it'll be a big mistake on the FO's part if we squander this opportunity though.

At 4 I take Goff or Ramsey depending on of Goff is there

I would see if I could trade down if Goff is gone, take Elliott and take Wentz or Kiel at the top of the 2nd. However I dont know how easy trading down would be with no QB worth #4 if Goff is gone

This is what I'll be doing the rest of the season. Rooting for the Cowboys to lose (Go Cowboys! though) and the teams around them in the draft order to win.

Let's look back at this mess in a few years and say, hey...that got us our QB. It was all worth it.

Totally agree. Take this season as a blessing in disguise, it may not land us Andrew Luck but could get us a QB that can start for another 10-12 years. Also, even if we don't have a shot at the #1 QB and the #2 QB isn't worth where we pick, we can trade down, although I'd be willing if we felt that QB was a franchise QB.

I think this actually a good year to have a top pick and address the QB-of-the-future need. For one, we never expected to be this awful so why not draft a player we shouldn't have had a shot at. Two, not sure anyone else is the impact player you want in a top 5 pick. I wouldn't hate adding Nkemdiche, Bosa, or Ramsey to this defense but none of them seem like a franchise-making player (drafting Tunsil or Stanley in the top 5 seems like overkill). Finally, Goff and Lynch are ideal for our situation. They are both talented enough to merit a top 5 pick, but they both need some time so sitting behind Romo for a year or two is not going to be an issue.

Leave it to us with our luck to have awful QB's coming out with a top 5 pick!

Also have a horroble year when the NFC sucks! If we would have gone 12-4 we could have had a bye this year.

Never fails!!! :banghead:

My first post, so I may get ridiculed to no end but, I think the best course of action is to go best available need in the first round (bosa or Hargreaves?) followed by QB in the second round. Perhaps hackenburg? He's a sleeper in this draft Imo. He's played fairly well considering he's played from his back for three years at psu. I am concerned that his body won't hold up, sometimes he looks like a 35 year old in 20 year olds body.

That stinks. Lynch will probably go 1 but I don't think the remaining QBs are worth #4. We need some of the other loser teams to win more

Goff is close imo.his release is good and I think he can do good with a better oline.the 49ERs will pick The local Goff anyway.

We aren't taking a QB. Jerry is the biggest blind Romo fan on the planet. He will be talking about how Romo has 3-5 years left while picking a TE with the first draft pick. All the puppet coaches won't have any say so either.

I'd rather have the Treadwell kid from Ole Miss.

Then go get Mettenberger.

Don't waste a pick on these QB busts. THEY ALMOST ALWAYS BUST.

Welcome aboard. That's where I'm at, I haven't watched a lot of tape on the QBs but I'd rather take a dominant LB, WR or CB in the first round and then pick a QB later on to develop. I get the argument that you don't get the opportunity to draft a top ten QB often, but the other side of the coin is that in 2011 Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert were both top ten QB picks.

How do you figure Lynch and Goff are awful
Gabbert, Ponder, RG3, Geno, Manuel, Clausen, Locker, Manziel, Bradford, Barkley, Sanchez....

And Bortles, Tannehill, Mariotta, and Bridgewater look very limited.

Carr and Luck even look up and down. Winston looks the most promising.

QBs in college are ill prepared for the NFL. I wouldn't waste first round picks on them.

I think they have to get an impact player, or a position like CB where its rare to get a dominant player. I think they take WR, LB or CB in the first (especially with so many of the other top picks being DL or OT), then RB in the 2nd and QB in the 3rd or 4th.

I agree that Goff's frame is too slender at this point, but if we end up with him, he most likely would have a couple of years to put on weight.

My time table if we end up taking a QB high in this draft:

2016:
Romo - starter
Cassell/ Moore/ FA - #2
Goff/ Lynch - clipboard duty

2017:
Romo - starter
Goff/ Lynch - #2
???? - clipboard duty

2018:
Goff/ Lynch - starter
Romo - #2/ quasi OC

2019:
see 2018

wow you guys are dreaming and your layout here is a hail mary at best.
1.jones boys wont pick who you want , they may not even pick a qb!
2. dallas will win more games, I figure at least 1 and probably 2, and maybe 3
so forget the high picks, it will be higher, but not what you want.

And I agree , we should lose out and try to pick as high as possible, but I dont see that happening.
But even if it does, no telling what jones boys do with the picks.

Best case scenario for this team is maybe they win a couple more games this year. That's 5-11 at best, IMO. That should at least be in contention for the 5th pick.

I worry about the Washington games. That's still a bad team.

Plus GB is looking bad too. Ho do they let Chicago come in and beat them? They must be missing Nelson that bad.

Oh man, people who are comfortable picking Goff with a top 5 pick, you guys are insane. The guy flat out sucks. Has anyone even watched him? I'm actually surprised so many here are down for that. I can't comment on Lynch because I literally haven't seen him play a snap, but this is a atrocious year for a qb needy team. Connor Cook imo is the best of the bunch, and even he looks like a game manager at the next level, give him a top 5 defense and top running game you'll be fine. Would rather go Jalen Ramsey or Joey Bosa first then Carson Wentz second.

Read my mind with the Ramsey/Wentz combo
