No freebies: Jason Garrett wants young players to earn playing time

Yet often times the biggest leaps in player development take real game experience in order to happen.

Garrett missing a real opportunity to let a few players gain some great experience which will help us long term just to gain some advantage in the short term. Oh well, par for the course.

I have an idea. Have everyone earn their playing time. For example the next false start Witten has yank him and put someone else in. The young guys aren't the only ones with lessons to learn.

Quit coddling your stars and handing them starting jobs. If you're not a coach strong enough to do it then a priority needs to be made to find one that can demand such attention.

At this point, I hope we lose the rest of our games.

Garrett needs two wins too mitigate his humiliation, lad.
Bollocks I say!
He's no longer part of the equation!
We need a top 5 pick in the draft more than we need for Garrett to not appear the weak, bland coach that he is.
Sir Jones, be a leader and send Garrett packing to the CFL!!!!

This is a chance to find out about some of the young players and tank without tanking.

Chaz Green should be starting at RT. Hannah and Swaim should be playing TE. There are a couple of young LB's that need a look. Terrence Mitchell needs a good look. Find out what these back up RB's have. Give Heath a chance to prove he has improved. Butler and Street need to be the starting WR's. One of them wont be here next year. Let's see who can earn it. Don't be a dip **** Garrett.

I'm all for this. Even if its just a few plays for a pre-snap penalty. RBs who turn the ball over get sat. Dumb plays like late hits or excessive celebrations get at least a series. Standardize it, and make it just another part of the process.

I don't have a problem at all with making young players earn their reps, as long as you then hand them out when the opportunity presents itself.

Being 4-10 earns young players playing time because the older players haven't gotten it done. It was Cassel not performing that got Kellen Moore on the field.
