Who's your pick at #4?

1. Goff (likely already gone to CLE at #2 or via trade at #3)
2. Bosa
3. Jack

That's what I'd want and I think that's what our board will look like. If Goff and Bosa are gone, I wouldn't mind trading back a bit to accumulate picks, and then targeting Elliott or Hargreaves in the teens.

Let's hope Cleveland falls in love with Lynch and then SD doesn't trade with SF....

I'm sure it will change, and I'm not a draft expert by any means, but this would be who I'd like to see as a Cowboy, listed in order, and based on just watching all of these guys in a few games.

1. Goff
2. Bosa
3. Tunsil
4. Lynch
5. Jack

After that, I like Treadwell and Hargreaves. I think Jalen Ramsey is way overrated.

IF they like Goff, they COULD trade up. Maybe Cleveland likes someone else, and is willing to move back 2 spots, to get a pick or 2.

I think we should trade back and pick up more picks. Go DB in the mid First round and QB in the 2nd. I just don't think that Lynch or Goff is worth a 4th overall pick. And we don't need a day one starter at QB, we need an impact player in the first. Trade back get more picks in the top 100 and get some playmakers.

trade down.

maybe we get a #10-12th pick and another high 2nd rounder.

No Goff no Lynch. Wasted investment. We dont need an QB who can essentially start from day one. We plan to develop one. We can get this guy much cheaper.

This is quite possibly the worst draft strategy I've heard so far.

Deciding you want to trade down, without knowing who's available at your pick, is silly and deciding you'd rather draft a worse quarterback because you don't want him to start right away is the type of decision that gets people fired.

I just don't see how you can draft a guy at #4 overall and he doesn't start day one. I think Goff and Lynch may turn out to be pretty good, but if we're drafting them that high, I would like for them to start, and we know that's not going to happen. I think Goff, Tunsil, and Bosa will probably be gone with the 1st 3 picks. I definitiely don't want a DB or LB at #4. I'm sticking with Treadwell, I just think that guy is a can't miss prospect and I like his demeanor. Him and Dez together would be hard to stop.

Yeah that could happen. Then Cleveland could probably still get Lynch at #4 because I can't seen SF trading up to #3 for Lynch.

Goff. If he has the potential to read a defense and get the ball out quick like Romo, you go franchise QB now if he's available. It's the perfect time with Romo's career winding down and it gives the QB time to learn from one of the best.

100% agreed!

Lets see how Lynch grades out through the whole process. If it were today, I would take Goff if he were available. Don't think he will be. If I had them both ranked as top half of the 1st round guys, I would have no problem taking either of them there. If they decide that it is too high for them I would go BPA. I know the OT from Miss is good, but I would have a hard time taking another lineman that early. Any other spot I am ok with. This "let's not take a QB until Romo is retired basically" is moronic. He couldn't make it through 4 full games this year and that wasn't even related to his multiple back surgeries. Odds are you will need the next guy buy 2017, let's get them a year to learn the system. You can't rely on stepping in crap and finding another Romo as an UDFA. I think you can find good QB's after round 1, but that doesn't mean you should pass on a guy that you think is a future franchise guy in rd one. I would agree on this if Romo was 30 and healthy, not 36 and fragile.

Why, does he have to start? Dallas had like 3 1st rd talent guys picked up in the draft/FA last year, I think it would be ok, for a QB to sit and learn, and based on Romo, probably start a handful of games.

Also, you are expecting 2 trade ups? I do not see that happening.

Zeke...

And I'm not so sure he slips past the Giants at #10.

If he's there, I take him. I don't like the idea of being at the mercy of who other teams decide to choose.

Bosa, Treadwell, Ragland, Tunsil, Ezekiel....there are several guys that would be great additions. Perhaps trading down a few spots?

Obviously, if one of these quarterbacks is the next Rodgers, I want that guy. But the chances are remote that any of them are special, and the team will be totally different by the time he's ready.

People didn't know that Rogers was the next Aaron Rogers. Your not going to ever be comfortable that a QB is the next top QB

Honestly, I haven't studied any of the top players enough to say who is better than whom.

But let's assume the top 5 players are the best at their position and possible franchise players. Let's assume those players are:

Jalen Ramsey
Joey Bosa
Laremy Tunsil
Paxton Lynch
Jared Goff

You pick the quarterback and don't look back. The signal caller is the one position that determines the long-term success of your franchise. Look at the multiple Super Bowl winners or Super Bowl teams/losers (Pittsburgh, New England, Seattle, Indianapolis, New York) and the common denominator is 1.) quarterback and 2.) coaching.

Big Ben has been to three Super Bowls and has won two (one with Cowher as his coach which is why I put quarterback as No. 1 factor in attaining multiple Super Bowl appearances). Indianapolis went to two Super Bowls with Payton Manning, who also took Denver to a Super Bowl. Indy had Dungy as coach in its Super Bowl win and Caldwell as coach in its Super Bowl loss.
Russell Wilson has guided the Seahawks to two consecutive Super Bowls. See Eli Manning. And, of course, who can forget Tom Brady.

So ... if you have a chance to get a difference-maker at quarterback, you do so.

I'm assuming Cleveland will take Paxton Lynch, which would leave us Jared Goff, assuming no trades ahead of our pick.

Basically, what that says is that Romo has a two-year window to reach a Super Bowl. Otherwise, he's out. There's no way a team is going to let Jared Goff sit on the bench for three years. At the most, he'll spend two years as Romo's apprentice. But the third year, he'd better be starting.

After quarterback, you take Bosa or Tunsil because football is won on the lines. Ordinarily, you would want to protect your franchise quarterback with a LT so Tunsil would ordinarily be the pick. But we have a young Tyron Smith, who should man the LT spot for years to come. So Bosa would be the pick.I don't care if we have a LDE already. You still pick him because pass rushers are a premium, and you can always rotate him into the lineup and keep a fresh set of legs going after the quarterback.

So Goff would be my pick under the above scenario. But I'm not sure he's a franchise-type quarterback. However, if the Cowboys think he is, they shouldn't pass on him just because Jerry expects Romo to play another five years.
