Having said that. It was a bad bad year in Dallas. One of the worst I can remember...

But we have to get behind/support Dez. And should probably Sign Hardy;

Hardy will wait for a team that has a shot in the playoffs to sign with later in the season. (Dallas prob isn't an option for him)

You figure it out. It sure doesn't make a case that "nobody wants him" when "nobody wanted him" before either.

The fact is Garrett had the same issues with Hardy and Owens as every head coach they've ever played for. So tell me how, in your brilliance, that means this is a Jason Garrett issue?

Garrett has had issues with plenty of people. Anyone that challenges the position and authority that he's never earned. And nobody is trying to paint Hardy as anything other than a pain in the butt. He was before they signed him, the leopard didn't change his spots. But if Garrett needs a team of choir boys, it only further shows his lack of being true head coach material. Better coaches have dealt with much worse problems.

I'd love to join in on this waste of time that is blaming Jason Garrett for the death of the Dallas Cowboys but I just know better.

Sure you do, all evidence to the contrary.

A coach in training in over his head, spinning his wheels and those of the Cowboys in .500 perpetuity. But you go ahead and side with that.

Actually, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows with Haley in 1992. At halftime of the game against the Broncos, Jimmy Johnson pulled Haley into the bathroom area, and took him into a stall. He proceeded to read him the riot act, and flushed the toilet and told him that if he didn't pick it up, this is where his career is going.

Make no mistake about it - Johnson and Haley butted heads over both seasons that they were together.

I didn't mean to indicate that didn't. Only that if Dallas had sucked after acquiring Haley, it's likely that Johnson would have eventually flushed the toilet on Haley's career. I don't think he would have done it after one year because of what Dallas gave San Fran for Haley, but if putting up with him netted no meaningful results, Johnson wouldn't have continued to do it.

Of course, speculation is worthless since Johnson set sail after his Super Bowls.

I'll wait to see what else we do this offseason before believing we need Hardy back. Obviously, I don't believe Mayowa is the answer to replacing him, but I also don't believe that's the only move we'll make at DE.

True, but Johnson was one to cut his losses if he didn't get what he wanted out of something.

He cut Rhondy Weston (1989), James Richards (1991), James Brown (1992) and Mike Middleton (1993) - all third round draft picks - in camp.

He cut Terrence Flagler in his first camp (prior to Emmitt Smith ending his rookie holdout) after giving up second and third round picks to acquire him from San Francisco - ironically, the same terms that the Cowboys and Niners agreed on for the Haley trade.

He also always said he didn't treat all players the same. He probably had many time when he wanted to cut Haley but didn't because he knew he could help him win. If Haley didn't help him win, then Haley would have been gone.

If Dallas would have gone to the playoffs last year with Hardy as the main catalyst making the defense Denver-like, I don't think there's anyway he wouldn't be back in Dallas this year. He wasn't a difference-maker, and that's not worth the headache.

From what I see, he's not camp fodder. He's a player who can contribute to the defense in a role.

Why when we don't sign a big name does the player have to be camp fodder? It seems like a label fans throw around when they don't like a player or are too lazy to look him up.
