That's the whole reason for it being a main person and it's one of the reasons Negan picks Glenn in the comic. He wants it to be someone that will really hurt Rick. Really hurt his group. Cause that's how he believes that these people will indeed do as he says, so they don't lose anyone else that really matters to them.

Not sure he wants to hurt Rick, the group yes, but how would he know Rick is the leader? That is why Glenn makes the most sense here to me. The group sold Maggie as the leader to the hill top people, so it feels appropriate that Negan would kill her husband to send a message.

That's an interesting take.

In the graphic novel the way Glenn was chosen was by the luck of the draw.

His offer is real to the ones he offers it to. Its only for the ones he'd want to sleep with but it's real. If they move into his place, sleep him, and show total devotion to him then they don't have to work. If they're not interested in that then they work like everyone else in the group does. They earn their place and they help.

Like the ladies we saw earlier this season. If you're not getting the easy life, basically, with him then you're one of the people out there stealing, scavenging, bullying, and killing people for stuff. If you don't want to do the terrible stuff then you sleep with Negan and you have the easy life. That's basically the way it is.

Now if they go with him and then decide they don't want to he allows them to leave as well but there is a punishment for the man they're returning to (As that's usually the reason these women stray or wouldn't want to stay is because they joined the group with their husband or man they're in love with) for sneaking around behind Negan's back.

And it ain't a pretty punishment either.

So then if Michonne goes, I'm not joining the harem and I'm not working for your community of pirates, what happens to her? Does he just let her go?

I'd like to thank the readers of the TWD comic book series for their insights into the ongoing storylines and characters' backgrounds, especially BraveHeartFan's contributions. For me, it's nice knowing and seeing directors and producers stay aligned with their source material essentially. I enjoy television/movie adaptations that stay as true as possible to the stories and characters they're based upon.

I'd like to discourage the readers of TWD comic book series from spilling the beans on what happens each week. There are times the TV series deviates from the comics but much of the time they don't and I don't appreciate the tip offs. I don't want to know what happens in the comic book. If I did, I'd read it. The source material is not the iron clad script for the TV series. I think it's great the directors and producers don't always feel obligated to stay aligned to that already told story.

This is probably not the thread for you.

I don't spill much about the comics, but posters have been posting comic stuff since TWD threads began some years ago. The best way to avoid spoilers is to just avoid these threads honestly.

And there's a difference between laying out what the "big-picture" view of world is via the graphic novel and posting blow by blow what's going to happen each week– which is actually pretty hard because many of the small events fall out sequence or are simply done differently on TV.

The kid has just taken another opportunity to be contrary. Nothing more. It's pretty obvious that's their only purpose in this thread. The thread title clearly states there are spoilers. People have been talking about the graphic novel since the very start of these threads. Have they said anything before...? Nope. But notice how they worded their reply. Mimicking the post thanking people for doing so. Thinking they're clever, but unfortunately not.

I initially thought people were singling them out for ridicule. I see now the brings it upon himself, and by the looks of it, happily so, so that he can play the victim. For that, I'd like to apologize to Ice for my earlier comment about the cat fight.

Ok with that said... I'm hearing if it's anyone but you know who.... The show would be fudging up.

Your take?

Hmmmmmm, that's a good question that I have not really pondered. Truthfully, I have some trust built up from when they stray from script because they have hit way more than they have missed in my opinion. Adding Terminus to the Hunters storyline was amazing. Having Shane stick around to build up his crazy and was much better than the comics. Daryl and Carol's arcs, I could go on. Some misses for sure, but more hits.

On the surface, yeah, that character is the only one that would truly build up Negan to be what he is in the comics. There might be one more that would actually make it even worse, but I doubt they would go that route.

Some secondary character would really sell his villainy short.

What does that suppose to mean? Spoilers after the episode has aired is one thing but spoilers before anyone has even had a chance to see the episode is ridiculous. If you read the comic books ahead of the TV series, keep that story to yourself.

True. There have been some differences... for the good IMO. Some of it I attribute to Frank Darabont. I think he had a great vision for the series and got it off on the right foot. Keeping Shane around longer was a great move. Adding the Daryl character was solid.

One thing they do seem to be doing is speeding up the arc's from when Darabont was influencing things.

Terminus was some serious doodoo. One swing away from cracked coconuts. Intense.

They might go there. It depends how dark they want to go. He did whack a young kid already to send message.
The Corleone effect. When he gets older, he'll come for revenge.

Yeah it's gonna be a biggie. Again, the killing of young kid to make pointless that stage.

Actually, I wasn't referring to Carl. His character is finally going to get interesting so I don't want him to go yet. :)

One thing that hasn't been talked about much is the person Rick & Morgan came across. Neither a Hilltopper or a Savior.
