CB is a waste of a pick if they dont take a pass rusher at 34. If they do and get good production from them both picks work out

I would like another DE but our guys are only out 4 games and our first 4 games are not that tough.

We should go 3-1 without them.

Something to keep in mind about Ramsey is that he loves to hit people and is a clean tackler. You will never see him make a business decision.

I can get a RB that rushes for 1500 yards 2 rounds later.

yea and you *could* get a 4 time SB winning QB in the 6th round doesn't mean QBs aren't worth top picks.

What separates James and Tomlinson is the 1500 yard backs that are drafted later typically don't offer the same versatility in the passing game

I don't have a clue who the Chargers are/aren't taking, but if they pass on Ramsey, I agree with you...he'll be on the first Greyhound bus that's headed to Dallas.

Looks like Buckner or Tunsil.

Those are long odds. Finding a RB that can do that isn't. Happens all the time.

Since it appears pretty obvious to you that neither player is worth the 4th pick, don't you agree it is quite problematic trying to trade the pick? Who is going to give up much in a trade for players obviously not worth it?

It's quite the conundrum. :D

all the time? the only RBs since Edgerrin James to rush for 1500+ as a rookie were Clinton Portis and Alfred Morris, so I wouldn't say it happens often at all. And while Portis got about 350 yards receiving (Edge was 586), Morris didn't even crack 100 yards receiving.

Good post but you forgot to add double digit touchdowns. Which is the most important stat. The two "lead backs" currently on the roster had a combined 4TDs last season (McFadden 3 and Morris 1).

Just in case some missed it.

Elliott is a primo player. I suspect someone would trade up for him.

My desire to not take Elliott at 4 isn't because I think he's a bad player. It's because I believe with the way this team is constructed with the assets on the OL, you don't need to spend a high pick on a TB to be successful. So in that sense, the value in the 4th pick is much higher trading it for more picks than taking the TB. But make no mistake, I suspect someone would want that spot for Elliott as he's a very good player.

They pretty much came out and said they aren't trading it. I also remember a while back the whole any running back can run behind this line mantra was put to bed. We had the same OL in the 90s, yet, when Emmitt sat put 2 games our running game wqs horrible. The chemistry has to be there too man

The way the game is treading today, you need players that can match up with these new breed TE's that everyone is looking for. I believe they see a player in Ramsey and Jones that can be that match up equivalent.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit

Every time someone says...McFadden did fine especially without Tony and Dez....I keep thinking back that 1. He had a rare year where he played most of the year. 2. He had a rare year where he got 1k+ yards...but good grief do these people forget the lack of TDs or running game combined for.

Marcus Peters had 8 picks and 2 forced fumbles last year and appears to possibly be already a top 5 DB. He was picked at 18. I like Ramsey, but man that is high for a player that has played multiple positions.

I'm ok with either one.
My only issue with Zeke is that I think you can find good to very good RBs this year (and almost every year) later.
But I love Zeke as a player and think he'd certainly excite fan base.

And that's the conundrum for me actually. Had we not taken Jones last year Ramsey would be a shoe in, but we did. Give me beef, or a dynamic offensive weapon please this year.

My worry with Elliot and I'll admit it may not even be rational is that a.) he's a 1 contract player, which would be a disaster even if he's good during that time and b.) he's not a guy that will contribute much in the passing game. And I'm not saying Marshall Faulk good, but even Murray was a guy that exceeded 350 yards his last 2 seasons in Dallas and I'm not sure if Elliot will consistently do that.

Ok.. You're talking about Rookies. This is a longterm move. You've changed the conversation. We're not playing for 1 year and you can find highly productive RB's all over the place.

But Jones is going to play safety.

Claiborne is Claiborne, Scandrick is coming off a ACL, and Carr is on the last year of his deal.

^^^ Even more signs the Cowboys will go Ramsey.
