Dak did not play well

I don't think he was a check down Charlie, he picked his spots and gave his team a chance to make some plays but there were some drops that really held us back as well. Offensive line and play calling really have to get better.

I think about 95% of the people in this thread need to figure out the difference between "WELL" and "WELL FOR A ROOKIE 4TH ROUNDER MAKING HIS FIRST START."

The first couple of drives were fairly scripted. Very well, I might add.
The Giants adjusted.
I thought Eli had handed us the game with the pick leading to a short field TD and then some Cowboy momentum.
But the bad guys regained the "mo" and pulled it out.

People were totally irrational thinking Dak was going to explode onto the scene with 4 TDs and a 150 QB rating based on practice games. Assume the thrown and never look back, etc..
Silly.
People are being equally irrational throwing him under the bus now after on real game.

Been saying all along; let this colt grow at his own pace.
This kid has real potential.

B+ for dinking and dunking. I guess Weeden and Cassell get B+'s also.

That's why Dak's grade has got to be on the curve. Those 2 other meatbags have years of experience reading defenses in this league

If Dak performs this way 3 years from now then he'll be be graded straight up as our meatbag should. Sounds fair?

I'm saying he was very good for a project quarterback thrown in a full year ahead of schedule. I'm saying that overall he was as good as Weeden last year - which in the grand scheme is not great. I'm saying his throws contributed to the 'drops.' His accuracy was suspect and throwing the ball 7 1/2 feet high and at high velocity to Beasley means if he doesn't catch it that's not so much a drop as many people want to pretend. And that wasn't the only pass where he didn't help his receivers at all.

Again, for a project he did extremely well and he's at least a year ahead of schedule. But games aren't won and lost on a curve.
dez had the ball and dropped it. nothing to do with a well thrown ball.
beasley - his wasn't perfect no - but very catchable.

if you want to really "get right down to it" you can't have a drop w/o the action of a throw so EVERY dropped pass would have the horrible issue of the throw to consider also.

he did throw some damn high. i was VERY impressed beasley could have jumped over a small asian family at one point trying to bring one down. no denying it. but let's not say the (2) TD drops were because of the throw.

Prescott did fine. He's not going to live up to preseason expectations because preseason is just that, its practice. Teams aren't game planning to stop him, and the offense. The regular season is a different beast, but let's not forget Prescott is a rookie playing his first NFL game in the regular season, and that's a real accomplishment in itself considering where he was drafted.

It was a winnable game and the blame shouldn't all fall on the quarterback. He did his job, he just needed more help from others.

How'd he play like a rookie? The right side of the line was collapsing all game, players were dropping balls and he barely had a running game vs minimal blitzing. But he kept the team in it with poise, no picks or sacks and some key third down plays.

He played much better than the veterans we've had in here (that also win games elsewhere) the past few years.

If you guys can't see the positives, you're just comparing him to Wentz's first game and being disappointed for whatever reason.... even though dak made two td passes also that were dropped by vets

If his receivers played average we would of won. Point blank. 6 drops!!!!!! And twill didn't give an opportunity for the win. His press conference after the game really irk me too.

Also, keep in mind he threw the ball away a lot, usually right before taking a would be sack. The previous romo replacements would have not had the clarity to do that. I'd be interested to see what his stats were like for only the real throws to players, minus the throw away tosses.

My biggest issue with the game overall is not with Dak specifically but the fact that our offense could not assist the defense when we had a 19-13 advantage. We made about 3 key stops with this score and I KNEW we needed a two score cushion. We just couldn't score points here. The defense played above our heads so to speak and we couldn't take advantage of it especially at this key part of the game.

I don't.

Surgeon General warns it stunts short-term analytical acumen and inhibits judgement in being able to hide the first side effect.
But it clearly has them in a different state of mind where reality is no longer the case!

He played pretty damned well!

I thought so too given the circumstances. He did not lose us the game. If you went in to that game expecting him to win us the game in his first ever start, you need to reign in your expectations.

Thank you for that mrs. Romo he looked about like Tony and his 5th or 6th season

No one played well. Our supposed great offensive line got whipped all game. Given the circumstances Dak did a fine job. Remember we had 3rd and 15 on the last drive and he converted?
