Exactly. He played good for a rookie in his first start. Sounds like you were the one expecting some kind of fantasy game from him. If you were you got disappointed. If you understand the circumstances then you would understand that given them he did good job.

I have bigger issues with the play calling and the play of the people around him then I do with anything he did or didnt do. Im not sure what more he could have really done given the circumstances.

Assuming Romo comes back in game 6 like most are expecting, I was hoping for us to be 3-2 at that point. Nothing I saw yesterday changed my opinion.

I'm telling you guys now, we just went up against one of the better defenses in the league. I fully expect the Giants D to be in the top 10 at the end of the year, I was really impressed by them. I'll wait for Washington who usually allows some better down the field passes, sadly, they usually give us trouble with blitzing.

Just a rough couple games for Dak having to go up against division rivals.

He was ok, and we should feel encouraged, but Romo wins us that game simply because he can overcome the coaching staff's stupidity.

He needs to improve deep accuracy but he's a rookie and it's one start. The drops crushed all of those stats. Boxscore scouting is lazy and terrible. Easily should have had two TDs. Oh, back to your box scouting.

That's the book on Dak. He has never really thrown deep very well. Very good on short to intermediate but if you watched him in College, that was his game IMO.

I will also say that I don't think the Giants D is that good. They played against a Rookie QB and RB in their first NFL game and an Offense that has one WR that can threaten and that's it. That Defense was basically bailed out by two TD drops.

They won the game by one point.

To me, that doesn't suggest a good Defense.

The thing about the Beasley dropped touchdown is that if you run 15 plays, just statistically and logically, sooner or later you're going to get a crucial dropped pass or a hold. Which is one reason downfield passing is important. 15 play drives are a mixed blessing.

But I should repeat what I said in the other big Dak thread. He was OK for a first game. Great on the short passes. Needs to improve his downfield passing. Even if this is all he is, he'll be a good backup, possible starter for someone and have a nice career. He could improve into something really good. But even if not, in a quarterback-desperate league, we might be able to trade him for a pick higher than the fourth. And that would be a success.

Let's be clear on that. Yeah, there were some missed catches by the receivers, but there were also some really bad throws that were missed interceptions by the defense. Let's just focus on the facts. Of the 28 quarterbacks, Dak ranked...

• 26th in passing efficiency
• 28th in yards per attempt
• 22nd in completion percentage
• 21st in adjusted net yards per attempt

In no way did he play well in an absolute sense. He was poor yesterday. You can argue that he was OK for a rookie, but he did not play well yesterday. At all.

This we should be more concerned about Dez and the Defense. If Prescott plays that well most games and Dez and the Defense shows up we win most of the games on our schedule.
